As our company expands its operations, we're on the lookout for a skilled Underwriting Associate to play a crucial role in evaluating new and renewal programs within specific lines of business. In this role, you'll be responsible for proposing terms that encompass benefits, policy forms, terms & conditions, rates, and splits. Your recommendations should align with our profit and growth objectives, ensuring that the company maintains a competitive edge in the market.

Your Impact:

Analyze prospective risks and propose benefits, policy forms, terms & conditions, rates and splits that will reasonably achieve targeted profit and are marketable. Recommend declination only when unable to devise a scenario that will reasonably achieve targeted profit and remain marketable.

Analyze active risks and propose renewal terms that will reasonably achieve targeted profit and are marketable. Recommend non-renewal only when unable to devise a scenario that will reasonably achieve targeted profit and remain marketable.

Answer questions, provide direction and make decisions on issues that arise on a day-to-day basis related to assigned accounts, applying analytical and problem-solving skills, common sense, creativity, and the ability to persuade.

Present your position or point of view to prospects, clients, brokers, carriers, coworkers, or others in a fashion that is cogent and convincing, both orally and written.

Provide your clients, carriers and coworkers with timely and accurate information on your prospects’ and clients’ programs.

Work with senior underwriters to ensure that all programs you underwrite are compliant with the carrier’s requirements and regulatory requirements.

Successful Candidate Will Have:

Bachelor’s degree or underwriting experience

Strong math or financial skills

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work well in a team-based environment
