About OMI Foundation:

OMI Foundation is a new-age policy research and social innovation think tank developing knowledge frameworks at the intersection of mobility innovation and public good. Our interdisciplinary work is housed across three centres: The Centres for Future Mobility, Clean Mobility, and Inclusive Mobility. We develop evidence-based policy recommendations on the themes of sustainable urban mobility, electric mobility, energy and mobility, accessibility and inclusion, and the future of work and platform economy.

Key Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the OMI team, you will be supporting the Centre for Clean Mobility on the subject of EVs through research on the overall sector. Your scope of work includes:

Research and creating knowledge products (80% of the time)

Conduct relevant, cutting-edge, and scientifically robust socio-economic and political research and analysis on issues and developments in and around electric mobility including charging infrastructure development, EV components, integration of renewable energy in mobility, vehicle-to-grid etc. as well as on alternate fuels.

Maintain the lead on electric vehicle technology trends and the associated policy ecosystem globally for utility in electric mobility and its complementarity with energy storage to unlock its full potential.

Examine the contributions needed for low carbon and less polluting energy sources for mobility and propose policy changes to align it with India’s net zero ambitions.

Support the development and analysis of knowledge frameworks taking the shape of flagship reports, AI/ML-powered tools and dashboards, white papers, issue briefs, policy briefs, etc.

Outreach and communications (20% of the time)

Contribute to and guide the state-level and city-level policies on adoption of OMI’s knowledge frameworks through sustained engagement.

Foster and strengthen relationships with state and city governments on projects OMI can implement and demonstrate tangible impact.

Produce material to communicate research outcomes and analytical content to technical and non-technical audiences, media, the government and other stakeholders including senior management and donors

Advance collective understanding on clean mobility through curation of policy dialogues, participation at events hosted by relevant stakeholders, release of multimedia content like explainer videos and podcasts, publishing of opinion editorials in the media, engagements on social media, etc.

Skills and Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience - policy research or otherwise - in the clean mobility domain.

Demonstrated exceptional ability (through published work, articles, etc.) to write and comprehend effectively.

Strong analytical research skills and aptitude along with basic understanding of statistical concepts and techniques.

Outstanding written and oral communications and editing skills; proven ability to position issues effectively, both orally and in writing

Highly organised and detail-oriented thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities.

A Masters' Degree in Energy Management, Sustainability, Public Policy, Economics or a related discipline is an added advantage.
