Structural BIM Drafter

Job Description

TLH Consulting is seeking a talented and motivated Designer/BIM Drafter to join our team in Billerica. As a leading Structural Engineering firm, we specialize in providing comprehensive solutions to our clients in the commercial and residential sectors.

Responsibilities:

Design Development: Collaborate with engineers and architects to develop design concepts and translate them into accurate and detailed structural drawings using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.

BIM Modeling: Utilize BIM software (Revit) to create 3D models, generate construction documents.

Drafting: Prepare and revise structural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details, ensuring compliance with project requirements, building codes, and industry standards.

Coordination: Coordinate with various architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to resolve design issues, incorporate feedback, and ensure seamless collaboration throughout the design process.

Quality Control: Conduct thorough reviews of drawings and models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications and design intent.

Documentation: Maintain organized project files, including drawings, specifications, and related documentation, and assist in the preparation of project presentations and reports.

Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, advancements in BIM technology, and relevant software applications, and apply this knowledge to enhance design processes and deliver innovative solutions.

Qualifications:

Education: Associates degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications or vocational training in BIM software will be considered an asset.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in structural drafting, specifically in architectural or engineering firms. Proficiency in BIM software (Revit) is required.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of structural drafting principles and construction documentation. Proficiency in BIM software, including 3D modeling.

Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work with a focus on accuracy and precision in drafting and modeling. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate design concepts and coordinate with team members and external stakeholders.

Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve design issues proactively, using critical thinking and analytical skills.

Creativity: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and develop innovative design solutions within project constraints.

We designed and analyzed structures constructed of a variety of materials including structural steel, stainless steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, wood, and cold formed metal framing. We are currently registered in 12 states.
