Job Description Essential Job functions: * Responsible for assisting physician, PA or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care, and procedures.

* Maintains efficient patient flow.

* Prepares the examination room.

Escorts patient into the room.

Cleans examination room when exam is complete.

* Assures complete chart prep prior to visit.

Performs thorough chart prep for the following day.

* Schedules appointments for return visits.

* Stocks examination rooms with the necessary supplies.

* Practices proper hand washing and principles of infection control * Answers the telephone in an appropriate manner.

Directs calls and/or takes accurate messages.

* Pulls and files patient charts.

Makes up new patient charts.

* Provide referrals as needed.

Calls all no-show appointments to reschedule.

* Communicates any problems, equipment concerns or issues promptly to the Nurse or Clinical Manager.

* Prepares patient education materials.

General Job functions: * Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of medical emergency procedures and equipment.

* Prepares and maintains heat pads.

* Demonstrates appropriate positioning of patient on the examination table.

* Maintains patient dignity and privacy at all times.

* Respects patient's rights by knocking on the door, calling patient by name and identifying self before entering the patient's room.

* Other duties as required.

Physical Job Requirements: * Pushing and pulling, taking frequency and weight into consideration.

* Physical strength to lift heavy objects, carts, or items, taking frequency and weight into consideration.

* Physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job, taking distance and speed into account.

* Physical agility, which includes ability to maneuver body while in place.

* Dexterity of hands and fingers.

* Balance is maintained during climbing, bending and/or reaching * Endurance (e.g.

continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking). Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements: * Vocational / Technical School / Diploma Program required.

Associates degree preferred.

* 0 - 1 years experience required.

2-4 years preferred.

* Heart Saver certification required.

* Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

* Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.

* Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.

* Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window based environment preferred.

* Experience with Patient care equipment preferred.

* Experience with EHR, Practice Management System and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
