Sacristan For Parish

St. Gabriel Parish in Windsor Mill, MD is seeking candidates for a part-time Sacristan. The Sacristan is responsible for the preparation and oversight of liturgical celebrations and management of the sacristy. This is a weekend position designed ideally for a current high school student that includes Saturday afternoons and/or Sunday mornings. This is a non-benefit eligible, 10 hours a week position.

Essential Functions

Unlocks church and performs the setup, preparation, and oversight of liturgical celebrations: weekend Masses, baptisms, weddings, funerals, and quinceañeras

Maintains good order in the sacristy; makes notes of needed supplies

Arranges books and binders for weekend Mass

Trained to operate sound system, "Proclaim" digital worship aid, and livestream system

Locks church after worshipers have departed

Informs the maintenance department about any maintenance, repair, or cleaning needs in the church

Position Qualifications

At minimum, a High School Junior or Senior in 2024-2025

Practicing Catholic in good standing with The Church

General knowledge of the Catholic Church; including sacraments

Knowledge of the parts of Mass or willingness to learn and be an integral part of Mass

Dependable

Ability to work independently

Ability to project a courteous, warm, and welcoming image
