A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SPECIALIST

As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at Montereau, you will plan and implement direct group and individual therapy services and work with residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Long-Term Care to address their social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual well-being. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to spread music therapy awareness in partnership with our social media team and provide monthly wellness programs for our team members and residents. You will also provide assessments and cumulative reports to family members of residents on your caseload. You will have the opportunity to become involved with the growth of the Vitality music therapy program in a developing state, and we welcome your creative ideas and aspirations for this music therapy program. We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with strong interdisciplinary skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

As a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, you will enjoy interacting with and providing high-quality activities for our senior residents to meet their cognitive, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Our Therapeutic Recreation Specialists work closely with our residents, allowing you to create a special bond with them, offering a meaningful relationship to both the resident and you. During each shift, you will engage with residents through person-centered programs, collaborate with the Wellness team and residents on programs that will be provided on the activity calendar, and document on the programs that are provided to our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A THERAPEUTIC RECREATION SPECIALIST.

Current LPMT license to practice music therapy in the state of Oklahoma is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in therapy from an accredited music therapy program, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training is preferred.

CPR certification is required.

Valid state driver license is required.

Ability to complete physical tasks typically performed in Therapeutic Recreation work.

Dependable, organized, creative, flexible.

Excellent oral and written communication skills
