Position: Occupational Therapist Department: Exceptional Children Term of Employment: 10 months Pitt County Schools is looking for a full time (37.5 hours per week) Occupational Therapist to serve students with identified needs.
This staff person would provide the following: Evaluation Services: * Serve as collaborative evaluator on a multi-disciplinary team for both pre-school and school age students.
* Evaluation services to include pre-school and school age students referred for formal assessment.
* Interpret and report evaluation findings and relay information to staff and families.
* Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
Intervention services: * Provides direct and consultative services to pre-school and school age students.
* Provide guidance/consultation to teachers and other staff regarding student needs, assess school environment, plan and adapt for success.
* Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate student participation and occupational performance within the school environment.
* Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.
* Documents occupational therapy services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities and skills: * Provide supervision of assigned staff: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
* Participate in staff meetings as requested.
* Contributes to inventory process, budget planning, equipment maintenance.
* Must be able to use electronic devices, manage electronic databases for data entry and daily documentation.
* Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: * Have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and have completed all fieldwork requirements.
* Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or other pediatric practice setting.
Special Requirements/Licensure: * Initial certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.
* Current license by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy.
