About the position: Mechanical Engineer II

This opportunity will provide technical expertise to support existing and new product lines. The engineer will be tasked with design, sustaining, improving, and manufacturing support for all product lines. The engineer may also be part of a design team for new product development and the setup of new production lines. The candidate will work in collaboration on various teams depending on project scope.

This position is a hands-on engineering position with time spent in both the office and manufacturing floors. The design, sustaining and manufacturing support activities include but are not limited to project commissioning, new product development, design optimization, cost saving initiatives, functional design, and manufacturability improvements, BOM management, and controlled documentation management. This position will be based out of the 260 Creekside Buffalo, New York.

Essential Functions:

· Design and develop innovative solutions to meet engineering and marketing requirements.

Participate on design teams for new product development on multiple product lines.

Interface with customers to troubleshoot and determine corrective measures for system issues and quality defects.

Develop and perform test protocols to evaluate design changes, product improvements and cost reduction opportunities.

Develop plans and schedules for various On-site gas generation projects.

Assist Supply Chain with procurement of equipment and spare parts for various projects.

Support and troubleshoot manufacturing, quality, and supply chain related product issues.

Determine product costing and BOM (Bill of Materials) management through centralized document management system.

Support Sales by reviewing contract documentation, project specifications, and sales order review.

Support Engineering byspecifying equipment and components needed to meet customer specifications and assist with documentation submittal to customer.

Support Project Management by building As-Built Plant Engineering Drawing Packages and Instruction Manuals.

Assist with project start-ups, testing, plant service, and repair.

Work within a greater team to ensure that all aspects of new product introduction, and changes to existing products, are effectively communicated to production personnel. Prepare and communicate ECO and/or TDD changes to production.

Interface with various departments in coordinating technical information relating to specific projects or regarding quality issues and provide training to Production and Engineering personnel.

Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.

Domestic and International travel as needed.

Requirements:

BS Degree in Engineering-Mechanical or Mechatronics.

Minimum three years engineering experience preferably in the design and manufacturing of electro-mechanical products.

Working knowledge of CAD software. SolidWorks experience is preferred.

Working knowledge of computers, including MS Word, Excel, and Office Suite programs.

Strong organizational skills.

Ability to work both independently and in team settings.

Sound understanding of and demonstrated success applying fundamentals within mechanical design, statics, dynamics, pressure vessels and thermal dynamics.

Preferred Requirements:

Medical Device background a plus.

Understanding of statistics, production metrics and Six Sigma.

Understanding of Medical Device design control processes and associated ISO standards compliance (60601, 13485, etc.) preferred.

Previous experience in a medium to high volume manufacturing environment.

Awareness and understanding of Company quality standards, capital equipment, procurement, FMEA, APQP, ISO 9001 knowledge and experience preferred.
