Summary:

We are currently looking for an experienced, customer focused, energetic & detail-oriented individual to join our Datacenter Operations Team. The DC Network Engineer is a crucial role in the build and day to day DC operations contributing towards stability & uptime of the DC environment. This is a front line network heavy role for any hands-on requirement in the data center supporting assets hosted by various teams within the company.

Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage complex network solutions in a multivendor solution stack including routing, access layer switching, and datacenter switching.

Document network configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide reference materials for future initiatives.

Perform routine maintenance and inspections of data center hardware, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.

Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues, coordinating with vendors for repairs or replacements as needed.

Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software.

Monitor server performance and take proactive measures to optimize performance and prevent downtime.

Manage and configure network switches, routers, and firewalls.

Monitor network traffic and address connectivity issues promptly.

Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard data center assets and prevent unauthorized access.

Monitor power distribution and backup systems (UPS) to ensure uninterrupted operation.

Coordinate with electrical technicians to address power-related issues.

Maintain detailed records of equipment inventory, maintenance activities, and system configurations.

Create and update documentation for data center processes and procedures.

Respond to alarms and emergencies, such as fire or equipment failures, with speed and efficiency.

Follow disaster recovery plans to minimize data center downtime.

Collaborate effectively with other IT teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless data center operations.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience working in a large-scale. Complex, mission critical data center environment.

Experience in deploying & maintaining large scale L2 & L3 Datacenter Networks

Must be able to hit the ground running on a large-scale initiative including project planning, participate in ongoing discussions, quoting, capacity planning, future maintenance planning, and implementation.

Proficiency in data center hardware, networking, and server technologies.

Strong familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and server virtualization.

Competence in data center management tools and software.

Experience managing hardware install, troubleshooting & parts replacement tasks.

Should have intermediate level knowledge of networking concepts, topology & protocols.

Should have experience in creating & maintaining setup diagrams, system hand-over, inventory & spares management documentation.

Regularly lift and or move items up to 40 pounds and participate in group lifts for heavier items.

Push or pull heavy objects into position.

Work in a noisy environment.

Available for off-hour & weekend maintenance activities.

Self-starter mentality and the ability to function equally well as an individual or as part of a team to accomplish goals.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.

Proven track record of successfully delivering network projects on time and within budget.
