Chief Financial Officer – Family Office

Company Profile:

A Dallas, Texas-based family investment firm that invests the assets of the family and related parties. The firm is active in small cap and special situation public equity, lower middle market private equity, real estate, funds, and other investment classes.

CFO Role:

The CFO reports directly to the President and Chairman, both of whom are family members. The CFO is involved in several areas of the family office: accounting, financial reporting, cash management, investment reporting, tax preparation and review.

Core Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage corporate finances.

Manage financial and operating budgets.

Manage accounting responsibilities within the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.

Reconcile internal investments and bank accounts.

Prepare family office reports for various entities.

Cash management between various entities.

Manage requests for capital calls, distributions, and reporting for the family investments.

Work with outside tax professionals to coordinate tax returns and filings.

At times, coordinate with outside estate planning attorneys and other legal counsel.

Maintain efficient internal controls and business processes.

Flexibility to complete projects as needed, depending on underlying investments.

Oversee firm HR operations by coordinating with external service providers (ex: payroll, benefits, etc.) and other aspects of HR.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

Excellent leadership skills and exceptional verbal, written and visual communication skills.

5+ years of accounting experience in a combination of public accounting (either audit or tax), investing firm or family office.

Experience with alternative investments, private equity and partnership accounting.

Familiarity with tax reporting, including partnerships, corporations, foundations, and individuals.

B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or a related field.

Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant).

Exceptional skills with Excel and QuickBooks.

Ability to be proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
