The Engineering Services group (EG) is a focused group within the larger Air Liquide Electronics (ALE) organization that specializes in providing project development and estimation, design services and project and construction management for carrier gas, specialty gas and chemical systems. Team members are chemical and mechanical engineers, project development and implementation managers, and construction support specialists who work closely to meet the high expectations of Electronics customers. The core focus of this group is growing Air Liquide’s customer base in the U.S. Electronics industry through turnkey project design, installation and management. The expertise of this team is enhanced with licensed Professional Engineers and PMP certified project managers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Senior Design Engineer is a member of the ESM Project Engineering Group. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for preliminary and detailed process design of complex industrial gas, specialty gas, and chemical process systems at ALEUS’ ESM Plant in Morrisville, PA. This position is responsible for complex design development and technical project support from the conceptual phase through project execution. The Senior Design Engineer has mastered the skills needed to complete complex process designs according to national codes and standards. This position is recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in one or more fields of expertise and contributes at a local or international entity level.

Responsibilities

Lead new process design, project solution development, and create design basis documents.

Develop Scopes and Bid Tabs and manage 3rd party engineering firms who complete externally managed designs.

Evaluate value-engineering options to provide the lowest cost solution while fulfilling requirements

Complete complex process designs and options analysis using models and simulations.

Create and modify detailed P&IDs, layouts, mechanical, and controls strategy documentation.

Specify components, materials, major equipment, and associated utility systems.

Develop process specifications, and data sheets for process, electrical, and controls equipment.

Lead Design Reviews and Risk Assessments including mechanical, electrical, and controls scope.

Track Design Review and Risk Assessment action items to closure in support of the project schedule.

Assist the Project Manager during project execution to resolve design challenges.

Manage design changes and implement As-Built documentation at close of project.

Assist the plant with development of startup, operation and maintenance procedures.

Review and address Operational Area concerns to ensure safe and efficient process start-up.

Define required equipment inspections and verification methods for implementation by Operations.

Lead the development of design standards and specifications for critical and recurring design activities.

Support Operations with design input to the the Management of Change (MOC) process

Perform functions of SME and Design Authority. Technical review and validation of process designs by others.

Contribute technically and share knowledge at a local or international entity level.

Are you a MATCH?

BS or MS Degree Chemical Engineering, PE license preferred

10+ years work experience in engineering process design in industrial gas, chemical, or related industry

In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards such as NFPA, ASME, API, PSM, RMP

Strong technical knowledge of fluid flow and ability to perform complex calculations

Experienced using pipe flow and stress modeling programs (AFT Arrow and Fathom, CAEPIPE, Crane Flow of Fluids, CAESAR)

Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD software and SolidWorks

Strong technical knowledge of gas system function and processes

Strong problem solving skills and strong verbal and written communication

The Salary rate range for this position in Pennsylvania is $130,000.00 to $140,000.00
