DIRECT REPORTING: Purchasing Supervisor

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: Director, Supply Chain

As the Senior Buyer you will leverage your expertise in procurement, negotiations, and supply chain management within a dynamic and evolving aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to ensure the seamless sourcing and management of critical commodities, fostering strong supplier relationships, and maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities:

Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and meticulously select the best sources aligning with cost, quality, and delivery needs.

Negotiate and oversee long-term pricing agreements on crucial commodities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.

Facilitate transactions with domestic and international suppliers by managing purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and validating all transactions.

Manage correspondence regarding shipment discrepancies, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices, ensuring timely reporting to relevant stakeholders.

Act as a liaison between suppliers and various departments to resolve procurement-related issues, fostering effective problem-solving.

Process non-conforming material requests and manage RMA requests in collaboration with supply chain partners.

Authorize purchase payments after meticulous review of invoices and associated documentation.

Maintain inventory at targeted levels as per management directives, ensuring accurate stock code information within JD Edwards, including lead times, pricing, and current supplier data.

Monitor supplier performance by ensuring scheduled deliveries meet specifications and maintain comprehensive records to evaluate supplier performance against company requirements.

Oversee maintenance of services and office equipment by monitoring and recording service agreements with suppliers to ensure terms are fulfilled.

Provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders on purchasing operations by interpreting relevant laws, policies, codes, and regulations.

Candidate Requirements

Experience & Education:

5+ years of experience in materials and supply chain within a manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated experience in purchasing within a manufacturing setting, showcasing strong negotiation skills.

Experience in Kanban & Consignment Inventory Management processes.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent work experience.

Completion of APICS classes is a plus.

Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean certification is a plus.

Knowledge & Abilities:

Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems.

Ability to read and translate blueprints.

Comprehensive understanding of materials flow and related functions within the Supply Chain.

Knowledge of inventory management concepts and strong system proficiency; JDE experience is a plus.

Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple efforts effectively.

Aptitude for process improvement and familiarity with Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies.

Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, ISO, and NADCAP.

Demonstrated high ethical standards, adaptability to changing conditions, and persistence in overcoming obstacles.

Solid analytical skills, solution-driven thinking, and the ability to make decisions based on a blend of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.

Creativity, adaptability, and a relentless commitment to learning and continuous improvement.

Proven ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, effectively managing multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills, conveying information confidently at all organizational levels.

Ability to provide cross-functional and organizational leadership within a highly matrixed organization.

PAY RANGE: $70K - $87K base salary. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
