St. Andrew Methodist Church, founded in 1986, is located on 21.2 acres in Plano, Texas, and has more than 7,000 members. Our Student Ministry provides programming and ministry to students who attend St. Andrew and reaches out to students in the community through partnerships with local schools, parachurch organizations such as Young Life, other area churches, and more. Our Student Ministry averages 120 students on a Sunday morning and a confirmation class of over 60 students.

The Student Ministry Coordinator grows and oversees all programs directed at students who call St. Andrew home. These programs are designed and implemented to grow our discipleship. The Student Ministry Coordinator also builds bridges from the outreach events to create an environment where all students feel like they belong and are loved and is a partner in ministry helping to fulfill the mission and vision of St. Andrew Methodist Church.

Sunday School Responsibilities

Plan for all aspects of Sunday morning programming including but not limited to announcements, coordination of worship, message, small groups, etc.

Assist with finding, equipping, and encouraging adults to lead small groups.

Prepare weekly communication to all adults, including small group teacher schedule and small group questions.

Follow up with first time visitors and get them connected to St. Andrew.

Assist with Sunday morning setup and logistics.

Weekly Program Responsibilities:

Support weekly middle school programming, including planning and executing Sunday evening programs with lesson, activity, games, and worship.

Support weekly high school programming, including planning and executing Sunday evening programming.

Assist with finding, equipping, and encouraging adults to lead small groups.

Prepare weekly communication to all adults involved in volunteering.

Support Life Groups by assisting with any logistics needed from groups and connecting all students with opportunities to join a Life Group.

Oversee and coordinate Home Days, including recruiting volunteers during the week at St. Andrew. Make sure students throughout the schools hear about Home Days.

Oversee and coordinate Lunch Bunch on Wednesdays during the school year.

Outreach Responsibilities:

Establish relationships with nearby schools and administrations to make St. Andrew an available resource for their students.

Connect with Plano YoungLife and other Christian clubs in local middle school and high schools.

Attend student events, games, and performances to show support for our students and create a St. Andrew presence outside of the church.

Build a strategy to gain students from outside the church to move in their walk with Jesus.

Additional Weekly Responsibilities:

Attend weekly Student Ministry Staff Meetings plus other meetings and staff events as needed.

Be an available presence for students to come to for guidance and discipleship.

Attend student events off-campus games, plays, concerts, etc.

Track student contact work daily

Special Event and Trip Responsibilities:

Assist with planning and executing all Student Ministry events.

Attend all Student Ministry trips & events, unless coordinated with the Student Ministry Project Manager and Director in advance.

Assist with finding, equipping, and encouraging adults to attend trips/retreats/events as volunteers.

Education and Experience

Preferred 3 years or more of experience in Student Ministry

Must have High School diploma

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an exempt full-time position. Schedule is flexible dependent upon programming, but days and hours of work must meet the minimum of 36.5 hours a week. Sundays 8:30-12:30 are required.

Travel

Travel is expected on all Student Ministry trips, unless coordinated beforehand with the Student Ministry Project Manager and Director.
