Are you passionate about sustainable building design? Join Element5 as a Mass Timber Structural Designer and play a key role in shaping the future of construction!

You will be responsible for the structural design and detailing of mass timber structures for a variety of exciting projects. Collaborating with our senior structural engineering staff and working closely with our CLT and Glulam production lines, you will ensure that designs are optimized for manufacturing and assembly. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of internal resources, tools, and systems to drive innovation and efficiency in mass timber structures.

Responsibilities:

Structural Design of Mass Timber Structures (80%)

Developing Prototypes and Building Profiles (10%)

Developing Design Tools and Resources (10%)

Qualifications & Skills:

Proficiency in Structural Design and FE Analysis.

Excel, WoodWorks Sizer, RFEM, Revit, Rhino, SolidWorks, and Parametric modeling (assets).

Knowledge of BIM and CAD systems.

Design for manufacturing and assembly.

Strong attention to detail.

Exceptional self-management, time-management, and organizational skills.

Excellent team player.

Education and Experience:

Degree in Structural/Civil engineering (Masters/PhD is an asset).

Minimum 1-2 years in structural design, including gravity and lateral design of structures to Canadian and US Codes and Standards.

Experience with lateral system design, including wind and seismic static and dynamic analyses of multi-story structures.

Experience or keen interest in mass timber design and construction is preferred.
