Position Overview: Our Client is a leading International Freight Forwarder, operating in over 140 countries worldwide. They offer a wide range of logistics solutions to their customers, including air and ocean forwarding, contract logistics, customs clearance, and supply chain management services.

They are seeking an strong Customs Manager to lead their Mississauga team. The Customs Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring timely processing and compliance with customs regulations, facilitating the smooth movement of goods across international borders, and optimizing customs processes to enhance operational efficiency.

**Please note: This is an in-office position.**

What does this role entail?

Coach, mentor and develop a team of Customs professionals, providing training and guidance to internal team members or customs compliance requirements, best practices, and procedural updates.

Ensuring adherence to all customs regulations, policies, and procedures governing the import and export of goods.

Ensure entries are completed in a timely manner to avoid delays to the customer or storage charges.

Liaise with customs authorities, government agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve customs-related inquiries, issues, and disputes.

Continuously evaluating and optimizing customs processes to streamline operations, reduce lead times, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Collaborate closely with other departments, including operations, finance, and customer service, to ensure alignment on customs-related matters and foster a culture of compliance.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to customs clearance and compliance, implementing corrective actions as needed to achieve operational targets.

What are we looking for in a Customs Manager?

A minimum of 5 years of experience in customs brokerage, specifically in a freight forwarding environment.

A minimum of 2 years of working in a leadership capacity.

In-depth knowledge of Canadian customs regulations, including the Customs Act, Customs Tariff, and other relevant legislation.

Strong understanding of international trade processes, Incoterms, and customs clearance procedures.

Proficiency in customs brokerage software and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and analytical ability.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to effectivity lead a high-performing team within a fast-paced environment.

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation or similar certification required.
