Our exclusive client in the lighting and electrical sales agency industry is rapidly growing and seeking a Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.The ideal candidate currently holds their CPA designation and has worked in both public accounting as well as industry.Reporting directly to the principals of the organization, the Controller will oversee all accounting functions of the operations, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, implement and refine best practices, as well as play a vital role in the planning and execution of future growth and investment strategies.
***This is a fully in-office position (not hybrid / remote)

Required skills and qualifications:
Must be fluently bilingual (English / French)
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce / Accounting, MBA
CPA Designation an asset
Previous experience in public accounting as well as industry experience as an Assistant Controller is ideal
Previous experience using QuickBooks Online
Flexible and adaptable to a growing organization
Ability to learn new software quickly and efficiently
Team player who is willing to oversee and delegate as well as “roll up sleeves” and do the work itself whenever needed
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Duties may include but are limited to:
Complete oversight and execution of accounting functions for 5 separate entities
Develop, implement, and maintain proper financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory requirements
Directly manage 3 employees within the accounting and administration functions of the company along with performance management
Oversee payroll of 30 employees, including salaried staff and commissioned sales representatives
Complete monthly payroll and tax reporting and remittances
Work closely with management team and project managers to ensure positive ROI on projects
Produce monthly financial statements and provide to upper management team
Prepare year-end financial statements and provide to the company’s external accounting firm along with supporting documentation
Work with management team in creating annual budgets and conduct variance analysis
Identify opportunities for cost cutting and creating efficiencies within the operations
Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Other duties as assigned
Monday to Friday – 8:00am to 4:30pm – Fridays 9:00am to 3:30pm. Some flexibility in hours is also available.
