Accounting Clerk

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Clerk who has tax experience to join our team on a contract basis. This position offers a unique opportunity where you will be responsible for examining and analyzing tax returns to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws! Your primary goal will be to identify discrepancies, enforce tax regulations.

Responsibilities

Identify Non-Compliance: Detect underreported income, unclaimed deductions, and other forms of non-compliance; investigate potential fraud or evasion activities.

Prepare Reports: Document audit findings and prepare detailed reports; maintain accurate records of all audits conducted.

Data Entry and Record Maintenance: Accurately input financial data into the accounting system, including invoices, expenses, receipts, and other relevant information. Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records.

Financial Reports: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, summaries, and statements to provide insights into the company's financial performance.

Tax Documentation: Gather and organize tax-related documents for tax preparation and compliance.

Audit Assistance: Provide support during financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance efficiency.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA, CIA, or other relevant certifications preferred.

Experience in tax auditing, audit reports, basic accounting, compliance or a related field.

Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel

Working knowledge of tax systems

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify discrepancies.
