Job Description

Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in developing and maintaining the state's transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and implementation of transportation projects, including highways, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure elements.

Conduct traffic studies, analyze data, and develop solutions to improve traffic flow and safety.

Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for assigned projects.

Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety regulations.

Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including IDOT staff, contractors, consultants, and the public.

Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in transportation engineering technologies and best practices.

May provide technical expertise and guidance to less experienced engineers.

Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permitting processes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.

Valid Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in transportation engineering, preferably with IDOT experience.

Proven experience in the design and development of transportation projects.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, written and verbal, skills.

Proficient in the use of engineering software and design tools.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.

Valid driver's license.
