Position Description

Overview

The Certified Health Education Specialist reports to the Healthy Starts for Buffalo Project Director with accountability for providing strategy, judgment, organization, and evidenced-based analysis to influence decisions, and directly to meet CINQCARE requirements. The Health Educator, under the direction and with the support of the Project Director, will implement the group-based health and parenting education component of CINQCARE’s HS project, including curricula planning, instructional preparation, instruction, participant knowledge measurement, and participant retention activities.

Job Responsibilities

The Certified Health Education Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

Complete any required HRSA HS trainings and Incredible Years Baby Parenting Program instructor training

Adapt evidence-based health and parenting curricula for use among the HS project’s target population living in the project area

Coordinate calendar of group-based education topics / sessions and instruction locations in the project area

Mobilize grant subrecipients and project partners to identify and make participant referrals to group-based health education sessions

Mobilize CINQCARE transportation resources to ensure participant transportation to instructional sessions; coordinate other participants supports with CHWs as necessary

Identify appropriate local guest instructors for specific sessions among project partners and other community stakeholders

Deliver group-based health promotion and parenting education with HS participants

Utilize / design brief participant knowledge measurement instruments for each topic

Gather data of participant knowledge gains

Enter case notes and supporting documentation into participant case files

General Duties

The Certified Health Education Specialist will have the following duties:

Leadership: The Certified Health Education Specialist will lead in defining and executing strategies and solutions to create business value, including building a team to design, develop, and execute those strategies and solutions to deliver desired outcomes.

Strategy: The Certified Health Education Specialist will establish the business strategy and roadmap: (1) improve outcomes for CINQCARE Family Members; (2) enhance the efficacy of other CINQCARE. business divisions; and (3) develop and deliver external market opportunities for CINQCARE products and services. In establishing the business strategy, the Certified Health Education Specialist will define and innovate sustainable revenue models to drive profitability of the Company.

Collaboration: The Certified Health Education Specialist will ensure that capabilities form a cohesive offering, including by working closely with other business divisions to learn their needs, internalize their knowledge, and define solutions to achieve the business objectives of CINQCARE.

Knowledge: The Certified Health Education Specialist will provide subject matter expertise in the solutions, including determining and recommended approaches, solution deployment and performance evaluation.

Culture: The Certified Health Education Specialist is accountable for creating a productive, collaborative, safe and inclusive work environment for the team and as part of the larger Company.Qualifications

The Certified Health Education Specialist should have the following qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human services, public health, social work or similar field with a record of strong academic achievement;

Experience: At least 2 years’ health education experience or similar group instruction experience;

Demonstrate certification as a Certified Health Education Specialist

Preferably be from and representative of the served community

Proven ability to work independently and complete work on specific project schedules

Comfort working primarily in the community in partnership with CBOs

Familiarity with Buffalo-area public assistance programs, social service providers, and community-based organizations

Experience with electronic medical records preferred

Communication: Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills; ability to clearly articulate and present concepts and models in an accessible manner to CINQCARE’s team, investors, partners, and other stakeholders. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

Relationships: Ability to build and effectively manage relationships with business leaders and external constituents; and,

Location: Buffalo, NY

Compensation: $23 – $25 / hr
