Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Biostatistics is seeking a Statistical Programmers/Data Analysts to join our team working on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored RECOVER project, an initiative to understand, prevent, and treat the long-term complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Mass General Brigham (MGB) is partnering with the NIH to launch the RECOVER Data Resource Core (DRC), which will contribute to the collection, harmonization, and quality assurance of data collected on study participants, including so-called COVID-19 “long-haulers,” throughout the nation. This team will operate under a Principal Investigator based at MGH.

We are looking for well-organized, dynamic, and highly motivated Statistical Programmer/Data Analyst to join MGH Biostatistics to support conduct of the Data Coordinating Center functions of the RECOVER project. The Statistical Programmer/Data Analyst will report to the Senior Project Biostatistician and will work closely with faculty biostatisticians and study staff to facilitate study operations, data collection and quality control, and reporting of research findings. Strong programming skills in SAS or R, organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced research environment are required.

Responsibilities:

Create and run the Observational Study Monitoring Board (OSMB) report including tables, figures, listings.

Collaborate with clinical investigators and senior project biostatisticians in preparation of tables and figures for study manuscripts. Help with manuscript review and validation of data abstraction.

Develop code for reports used in study management, including reports for data querying and cleaning, study monitoring and data quality checking.

Develop specifications based on study protocol and write code to calculate derived variables and collaborate with the other statisticians to cross-check and update code as necessary.

Write code to extract data from Electronic Data Capture Systems (EDC) and maintain internal data files for use in reporting and analysis

Provide user support for EDC systems for site coordinators and study investigators, including development of training materials. Work with coordinators and study investigators to resolve data queries in EDC.

Generate custom and/or deidentified datasets for data repositories, ancillary studies, and/or public distribution.

Collaborate with other data managers and statisticians to maintain code base. Create and maintain documentation of datasets and data processes.

Work on optimization and automation of coding, reports, and data processes.

Job Requirements:

The Statistical Programmer/Data Analyst must have:

BA or BS degree or equivalent in statistics, computer science, data science or a related field

Minimum six months of experience preparing and analyzing data in a clinical setting.

Strong SAS or R programming skills including re-use of legacy code, creation of de novo code, and implementing validation checks.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively,

Ability to meet project deadlines, maintain up-to-date documentation and a work log,

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
