What You'll Do

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Emergency Management Agency

Report in location: 2855 West Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235

Work Days and hours would vary between Monday - Friday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm depending on student’s schedule.

This position is summer only (June - August) - hours per week are based on Intern's availability

The pay rate for a college intern is based upon the students' academic status:

Undergraduate student rate of pay - $16.93 per hour

Graduate student rate of pay - $20.59 per hour

Major/field of study should be in: Emergency Management; Public Policy, Business Administration; Natural Resources; Environmental Science; City or Urban Planning; Public Health; and/or Meteorology

Job duties:

· Help in reviewing emergency operations plans for all of Ohio’s eighty-eight (88) counties.

· Assist with updating and revising the fifty-two elements of the state emergency operations plan.

· Help to maintain and update the Ohio Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA) and a number of resource and reference materials for use by partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Employment Requirements (all must be verified upon hire)

To be eligible for an internship opportunity at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, an applicant must:

Be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.

Be in good standing with the college/university.

Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0.

Be enrolled in at least one course.

Be pursuing a degree or finishing a degree.
