Overview:

FALLS CHURCH, VA (NATIONWIDE SEARCH)- A loving family just outside of DC is eagerly seeking a nurturing and energetic FULL-TIME LIVE-IN NANNY for their three adorable girls, aged 7, 4, and 1. The ideal candidate will strike the perfect balance between engaging playfulness and calming care.

The family highly values early childhood development and education, seeking someone who can provide stimulating activities for their children. Above all, they are looking for a nanny who adores their kids and can build a strong, loving connection with them. It's important to note that their oldest daughter has cerebral palsy. Intellectually and emotionally she's just like any other 7-year-old, while her condition affects her gross and fine motor skills. Experience with physical or occupational therapy would be immensely beneficial, but the family is open to candidates who possess the willingness and capacity to learn. They hope to find someone who can mimic the therapist's techniques and help their daughter flourish despite her disability.

Their daughter is actively striving for independence, with her mobility being the sole area of concern. The assistance she needs is less palliative (e.g. nursing type care), but more therapeutic, aimed at fostering coordination, strength, control, and confidence to expand her capabilities. Most activities of daily living are done cooperatively with both child and caretaker taking part. She is enthusiastic about handling tasks independently, yet occasionally requires physical support, primarily to maintain balance. Nanny must be able to regularly lift a 40lb child onto the toilet, into the car, or carry from one place in the house to another.

Their eldest is a patient, determined old soul with a great sense of humor. She goes to school daily, though she is taken out for private therapy a few times a week. Other therapy sessions and doctor appointments crop up and they fit them in. The middle daughter is sweet and sensitive and full of exuberance for music and princess dresses. She will attend half-day preschool four days a week in the next school year. The youngest is a charmer who knows how to work a room, and explores the house with boundless curiosity. The older girls take a quiet time ~1:30-3:00 (or after school), while the baby is napping twice a day.

Their previous experiences have underscored the paramount importance of communication. They seek an individual who not only expresses themselves openly but also actively listens, valuing the exchange of ideas and concerns. Establishing an effective working relationship entails thorough organization, and they are dedicated to achieving a harmonious rhythm through consistent two-way communication. Initiative and meticulousness are highly esteemed traits by the family. Once aligned on goals and priorities for their daughters, they appreciate someone who can discern needs and opportunities, making sound decisions accordingly.

They are in search of a proactive individual who not only attends to household tasks but also demonstrates a keen eye for identifying and addressing any issues promptly. Moreover, they value creativity and ingenuity, particularly in devising engaging activities for the children. Attendance at therapy sessions is expected, with enthusiasm for learning the various prescribed activities and exercises. Above all, they cherish the ability to create enjoyable activities that seamlessly incorporate therapeutic movements and exercises, enabling the girls to play while engaging in beneficial physical activity. They would also like to have a relationship with their nanny and for you to be a part of the family! They enjoy having meals together and checking in when you cross paths on the weekend.

They appreciate some flexibility as well, as the youngest one is still going through several nap/schedule transitions and the oldest one has a doctor and therapy schedule that can change week-to-week. Each season may come with an adjusted schedule, and sometimes there are adujstments at the weekly level.

They believe that a person needs predictable downtime and personal time to be their best self, and to bring their best energy during their "on" time, and so make every effort to create an organized, healthy schedule. Yet they do require flexibility, and candidate must be flexible and easygoing overall.

Pay is commensurate with experience, $25-28/hr gross via payroll, housing, food & utilities. Benefits include 2 weeks of paid vacation (ideally overlapping with the family's vacation if possible), paid holidays, paid sick days, unlimited unpaid vacation and sick time, and a professional development stipend. The primary responsibility is the children. Responsibilities include childcare duties (such as laundry, light housekeeping, and meal preparation). Occasionally, when grandparents are present, tasks may shift to broader family support, including heavier child-related tasks like seasonal clothing organization. Your living quarters, located in the renovated basement, feature a private bathroom with a heated floor and ample natural light. Immediate start preferred; relocation assistance available.

If you have a heart full of love, a willingness to grow, and a passion for enriching young lives, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
