Overview: Quality and Food Safety Senior Manager role at a food and supplement manufacturing location.

This role will establish and enforce quality standards, provide technical support, and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.

The Quality Manager is an integral role in a cross functional group responsible for achieving operational efficiency and driving continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop, implement, and support quality systems to ensure and improve product quality and safety of food and supplements.

* Ensure regulatory compliance through implementation and maintenance of an FDA compliant Food Safety Plan, inclusive of regulatory inspection management.

* Provide Quality and Safety perspective, working closely with other departments during the commercialization of new products.

* Develop, train, and lead Quality staff, maximizing their potential through performance assessment and development.

* Drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain by highlighting non-conformances and leading cross functional root cause analysis.

Use data and statistical process control to support manufacturing improvements.

* Serve as primary contact and program owner for GFSI certification as well as all third-party certification programs (USDA NOP, NSF, Kosher, GFCO). * Develop and implement a robust internal auditing system to drive compliance and continuous improvement, inclusive of leading an auditing team and a corrective action task force.

* Promote Product Safety and quality by providing support and training to Operations, Quality and Sanitation functions.

Serve as the subject matter expert for product safety and quality.

* Lead and provide oversight for management of raw material and vendor approvals, monitoring and corrective action.

* Work closely with cross functional partners to support the commercialization of new products and processes.

* Own the continuous review of consumer complaints, analyzing for trends and identification of reduction plans.

Lead in plant investigations for customer and consumer complaints, documenting findings and generating outward facing responses.

* Oversight of analytical laboratory operations and safety, ensuring proper maintenance and calibration of all lab equipment.

* Manage quality department annual budget for the facility.

* Assists with other projects, as needed.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: * Bachelor’s degree in food science or other equivalent biological sciences * Minimum 5 – 9 years’ experience with oversight on quality assurance processes related to food and beverage products or other related capacity * Preferred GFSI or QA auditing certification and/or SQF practitioner * Knowledge of Food GMPs, SOPs, HACCP/Food Safety, and Environmental Guidelines.

* Understanding of statistical QA concepts with demonstrated application * Work experience in the manufacturing of food, dietary supplements, and/or personal care products preferred * Familiarity with regulatory requirements at manufacturing level, specifically organic certification is a plus.

* Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.

* Computer skills including MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint.

* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively.

* Self-motivated and strong analytical / problem solving skills.

* Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across other functional areas.
