Are you a self-motivated, energetic, and organized individual with a passion for residential property management and construction? Join The Island Company, a premier residential property management and construction company on Kiawah Island, SC, as a Handyman/Carpenter. We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee residential construction and repair projects, working closely with homeowners and subcontractors to ensure exceptional results.

The Island Company, founded in 2008 by Will Shiver, is dedicated to providing absentee homeowners with a service that simplifies and enhances their lives. We offer full-service home watch and general contracting, ensuring that our clients' properties are watched, cared for, and maintained to the highest standards.

Responsibilities:

Oversee set up and maintenance of dust and surface protection.

Safely and efficiently complete demolition.

Set windows and exterior doors to manufacturer specifications.

Replace light fixtures, switches, outlets, and plumbing fixtures.

Perform painting and drywall repairs.

Install appliances, interior doors and trim to high-quality standards.

Install bathroom and kitchen accessories, prefinished flooring to manufacturer specs.

Meet with inspectors, provide planning assistance to trade contractors, oversee clean and safe job sites, and ensure high-quality finish through quality checks.

Run errand for project managers

Qualifications:

2/3 years plus of hands-on residential construction work.

High School, some college or trade school is desirable.

Good working knowledge of all related building trades. The ability to replace plumbing and electrical fixtures.

The ability to teach others.

Fluency in English is a must and Spanish fluency is a plus!

Body Positions: standing, sitting, climbing kneeling, squatting, ability to lift 100 lbs.

Body Movements: Carrying, use of hands, eyes and arms and voice.

This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis.

State Drivers License and clean driving record.

Must be available for flexible work hours if required and be available after hours should emergencies arise during projects.
