Join our team at Princeton University's Office of Finance and Treasury, where we are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to step into the role of Assistant Manager within our Financial Shared Services group. As the Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the financial and business management of a diverse portfolio of departments, programs, and centers participating in Princeton's Financial Shared Services program.

In this position, you will be a key player in our mission to provide proactive, responsive, and effective financial services to over 30 departments, programs, and centers with combined budgets exceeding $100 million. Assistant Managers work closely with the unit managers they support to ensure the efficient management of financial processes and serve as a vital link between these units and the Office of Finance and Treasury.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership and Stewardship: Facilitate, monitor, and approve all expenditures, ensuring strict compliance with university policies and procedures. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to monitor budget allocations and fund balances, ensuring expenditures align with funding source regulations and remain within budget.

Financial Reporting and Analysis: Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and other financial information to support decision-making. Provide insights to help customers meet their objectives.

Financial Training: Conduct financial training sessions, both in small and large settings, covering policy and best practices for faculty, staff, and students.

Consulting: Act as a consultant to other departments outside the Financial Shared Services program, offering expertise to streamline and enhance financial processes and procedures.

Process Improvement: Collaborate on various projects to assess and enhance the effectiveness of financial processes and systems. Assist in piloting and testing new functionality before its broader campus implementation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or 3-5 years of experience in a customer service or finance role.

Prior experience in financial management or shared services supporting diverse stakeholders.

Strong customer-service focus.

Exceptional communication skills.

Demonstrated self-motivation and the capacity to work independently as well as within teams, upholding high personal standards and a commitment to excellence.

Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities, thriving in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills.

Capability to present information and conduct training sessions for both small and large groups.

Proficiency in desktop computing tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and system applications like PeopleSoft and Concur.

Proficiency in using analytical and reporting tools such as Tableau to identify and seize improvement opportunities
