HOURLY PAY RATE: $22.21

PAY GRADE: 107

SCHEDULE: MONDAY - FRIDAY 700A - 330P

POSITION PURPOSE: To maintain equipment and plumbing, and electrical systems of all facilities. To assist with installing and repairing physical structures, fixtures, equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems. To construct, erect, install and maintain physical structures and support the upkeep of lawns, trees, shrubs, driveways, and sidewalks of all facilities.

MAJOR TASK STATEMENTS & REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES:

(Percentage of time)

70% - Maintain, install and repair various fixtures, systems, switches, electronic and electrical devices and tools.

Install and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems; switches, outlets, computer cabling, plumbing pipes, fittings/fixtures, such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters.

Maintain physical components of structures, such as windows, doors, ceilings, sheet rock, woodwork, locks, and fences.

Maintain physical structures or areas which requires application of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills using carpenter hand/power tools.

Maintain heating and cooling systems by operation checks, and minor repair and maintenance.

Maintain electrical wiring, fixtures and systems such as switches, outlets, cabling and plumbing pipes, fittings and fixtures such as sinks, toilets and water heaters.

Provide instruction and guidance in all aspects of electrical and plumbing work.

20% - Construct and repair components of physical structures.

Perform installation and repair of structural woodwork, equipment and fixtures such as counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, windows, doors, framework and trim.

Must be able to read, understand and work from blueprints, drawings and follow oral instructions in compliance with local building codes.

Erect framework for structures, build stairs, lay out and install partitions, flooring and cabinet work.

Build cabinets and other wooden equipment and fixtures.

Provide guidance in all aspects of construction and repair.

10% - Maintain grounds, maintain and repair vehicles, appliances and equipment.

Maintain heating and cooling system by operation checks and minor repair and maintenance.

Repair electrical appliances such as mixers, can openers, refrigerator/freezer, stoves and televisions.

Perform routine maintenance of and minor repairs and tune-up of vehicles,

lawn tractors and mowers.

Mix and pour concrete to repair walkways or other areas.

Lift, move and transport furniture and equipment.

Mow lawn, trim shrubbery and weeds and, remove or clear snow and ice by use of lawn tractor.

Make keys for locks.

Carry a pager and respond to problems as required, which may involve return to work site.

Perform related work as required to include but not limited to serve on

teams/committees as assigned and work on special projects as assigned.

Attends training /in-services as required.

SUPERVISION OF: Act in a lead role to Maintenance Workers.

SUPERVISION BY: Team Leader provides minimal supervision. Work is reviewed through discussions and on the basis of the quality and quantity of statistical data provided to management. Supervision may range from close to minimal, dependent upon facility and/or service area.

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITY:

INTERNAL: All levels of staff, dependent on work locations.

EXTERNAL: Service contractors and supply vendors.

PRIMARY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS & MATERIALS USED: Hand and power carpentry tools; electrical, plumbing, and carpentry materials; lumber and drywall; cargo van; cargo truck; lawn tractor; work orders and logs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE: One year experience in directly related carpentry work, inclusive of some electrical and plumbing work.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have valid driver’s license from state of residence and provide proof of such.

• Must have auto liability insurance, and properly licensed/reliable vehicle and provide proof of such.

• Must submit to and pass criminal background check as prescribed by the Court.

• Must submit to and pass sex offender registry, and MO/KS child abuse & neglect checks.

• All applicants for this position are subject to testing for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

• Employees in this position are subject to random and reasonable suspicion testing for illegal drug use.

• Final employment offer is contingent on successfully passing physical exam, and physical abilities performance testing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of and skills in carpentry, plumbing and electrical systems and methods, and mechanical and vehicular repair and maintenance sufficient to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Knowledge of and ability to safely operate a variety of hand and power carpentry tools.

• Knowledge of building code requirements.

• Knowledge of and ability to read and interpret building and construction blueprints.

• Ability to lift and transport furniture, office equipment, and building supplies.

• Ability to lawfully operate a vehicle in a safe and prudent manner.

• Ability to maintain records and submit in a timely manner.

• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.

• Ability to plan, organize and schedule work.

• Ability to perform duties effectively, timely, and without supervision.

• Ability to work and relate in a positive fashion toward individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain effective working relationships.

• Ability to install/detach surveillance equipment, using a variety of small hand tools.
