Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking an Associate Director who will be responsible for leading the Iridium Commercial Projects Team in developing cutting edge technical solutions for its portfolio of commercial services. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the team. You will be responsible for providing technically feasible solutions for the assigned projects, ensuring the projects utilize common Systems Engineering processes, implementing SAFe/AGILE practices and working closely with other program managers and segment leads. What You’ll Do:

Foster and develop a highly effective team of engineers to facilitate team activities and projects

Lead efforts of multiple simultaneous objectives that span several functions and projects

Develop and maintain the team’s overall budget, goals, and schedules, ensuring adherence

Design and lead the development of services that interact with the Iridium ecosphere

Ensure that the team serves as the technical authority on all assigned projects

Oversee requirements analysis and decomposition of systems requirements

Ensure all projects follow the required project processes

Ensure proper coordination is implemented between projects with an emphasis on finding common engineering solutions where applicable

Lead team in the practice and implementation of SAFe/AGILE practices

Lead team participation in development of RFP and SOW efforts and lead team in support of major reviews

Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and managing conflict when necessary

Identify current staffing needs and secure appropriate resources which will allow for the expansion of team capabilities

Experience leading test and analysis activities of complex communications and/or space-based systems

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

BS or MS degree in engineering or related technical field

12+ years of relevant experience; previous experience in the Satellite industry highly desired

Experience leading test and analysis activities of complex communications and/or space-based systems

Strong technical background and experience with system level projects

Experience developing and maintaining schedules

Experience in coordinating software develop activities

Previous management experience

Expertise with the Microsoft Windows and Office product suite

A strong knowledge of satellite systems

A strong knowledge of both Waterfall and Agile processes

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

Familiarity with Atlassian Tools

We’ll Also Need You To:

Willing and able to travel up to 25 %

Due to ITAR, US Citizenship is required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
