Summary

Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance. Strong ability to be flexible and work as part of a team needed. Exhibits values of integrity and compassion. Full-time, 40+ hours weekly. Work weekly in three locations: Burbank, Glendale, Downtown Los Angeles

Duties and Responsibilities

· Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.

· Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.

· Saves urologist's time by helping with office procedures such as cystoscopies, urodynamics.

· Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.

· Counsels patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.

· Schedules in-office surgeries by making arrangements; verifying times with patients; preparing charts and consent forms.

· Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

· Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

· Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

· Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.

· Serves and protects the urology practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.

· Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

· Bi-lingual English/Spanish

Requirements

1. Required:

Medical Assistant Certification

Able to speak/write English clearly and make self understood.

Ability to speak/translate Spanish for providers.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Correct grammar, spelling skills, and legible writing.

Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line phone system.

Able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.

Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Tactfulness/soft spoken.

Demonstrate willing to adapt to change.

Be able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible.

Confident positive manner and appearance.

Type at 40 wpm.

Correctable vision and hearing within normal range.

Knowledge of HIPAA, COMPLIANCE, OSHA.

Our practice has been an important provider in the Los Angeles area since its founding in 2001 and is now the largest office of our specialty in our area. Our five providers focus on general office-based urology with sub-specializations in kidney stones, incontinence, cancer and transgender services. We operate in multiple facilities (Burbank, Glendale, DTLA) with an easy to learn EMR and the latest medical equipment, with the goal of achieving 95% patient satisfaction in our monthly quality control surveys.
