The NPI Technician will be a member of the Product Engineering Department, responsible for supporting all phases of new product prototyping and integration into the manufacturing line, including but not limited to procurement and acquisition and storage of parts, participation in and tracking of prototype build process.
Major Accountabilities
Provides constant communication between Engineering and Operations
Works with Design Engineers to write instructions to modify existing parts according to formal and informal design requirements supporting NPI
Supports Operations by providing technical support and engineering data
Support Engineering by providing feedback, data and other information needed to process parts
Identifies best practices for new configuration assembly
Conduct design assurance testing as directed by formal and informal testing standards/procedures
Collaborates when generating instructions for assembly
Reviews and recommends improvements to manufacturing processes
Procures materials for prototyping (raw stock, subcomponents, subassemblies, etc.)
Conducts final assembly of NPI prototypes as needed
Documents and communicates work procedure and standardized methods as needed
Performs a variety of hands-on machining, assembly and or test operations
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Required Education:
Minimum Two-Year technical degree in mechanical technology
Required Experience:
3+ years of relevant work experience in CNC machining / manufacturing
Experience setting up CNC equipment and writing programs
Knowledge and understanding of quality instruments and how to use them
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
Ability to work in a team environment
Ability to securely organize and document data
Ability to communicate with internally / externally written and verbal
Knowledge of LEAN principles and use
Preferred additional Education and / or Experience:
Experience in project management
Experience utilizing CAD/CAM software
Experience training CNC machining to others
Experience in Mastercam and Solidworks
