THE ROLE

As part of the Grounds team, the Landscape Gardner is in charge of the overall outdoor experience. Leading and overseeing a team of Gardeners that perform various functions, this role is responsible in ensuring a great outdoor environment for all residents, guests and clients by maintaining high levels of presentation in the public parks and gardens areas. Primarily and outdoors, the role will be Monday to Friday. As we are a hospitality venue, there will be the occasion where you will be required to assist with other hospitality related tasks across the venue and with other teams. Any experience in this area will be considered an added bonus.

JOB CRITIERIA

The qualities, including skills, knowledge, and abilities required to perform his/her tasks effectively include: Selection Criteria

o Proven Experience as a Landscape Gardener in similar industry

o Familiarity with landscape design and a broad knowledge of regional plant life.

o Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment.

o Knowledge of synthetic and natural fertilizers and pest management.

o Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.

o A love for the outdoors and plant life.

o Well-developed organisation, administration, time management and management skills

o Strong collaborative leadership style, that works well as individual as well as part of a larger team

o Proven problem-solving skills ensuring handling issues proactively effectively and with diplomacy and common sense

o Demonstrated ability to interact with stakeholders in a professional manner

o An energetic and enthusiastic, hands-on approach with outstanding customer service Essential Criteria

o Current Australian Police Check (within 6 months)

o Working with Children's Check or equivalent o Australian Driver's Licence o Legally entitled to work in Australia

o Be hands-on and possess a positive can-do attitude o Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment

o Lead, supervise and participate within a team

DUTIES/FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

The list of tasks, duties, and responsibilities performed by the Gardener while carrying out their functions is shown below:

o Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the Park gardens

o Initiate and design landscapes future plans by preparing plans and drawings, selecting materials and plants, and scheduling landscape construction.

o constructing gravel and paved areas, walls, fences, trellises, pergolas, ponds, barbecues, and garden furniture

o Install and maintain seasonal plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs as well as preparing seedbeds and growing sites.

o Mow, trim, and fertilize green spaces.

o Mulch, edge, and weed gardens.

o Manage trees throughout the life cycle - planting trees, bushes, hedges, flowers and bulbs, and prune and trim trees and bushes.

o Maintain all gardening equipment and machinery, like mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.

o Monitor and maintain the health of plants.

o Deal with pest problems that could damage plants including Digging, pruning and weeding flower beds and shrubs making sure hedges.

o Keep gardens and green spaces safe and clear of debris and litter.

BENEFITS We offer an attractive annualised agreement Salary Range $70,000 p.a.

You are honest, energetic, friendly, and enthusiastic with a passion for people and service. You have demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and lead a team. You are energetic with a hands-on approach, attention to detail and have a strong “guest- first” experience approach. You are knowledgeable and conversant on all regulatory requirements relating to agriculture, the local council environment and NSW legislation. You possess proven experience in a similar role and available to work a flexible hour.
