JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Senior Associate Provost (SAP), the Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs will direct and manage many matters related to faculty recruitment, tenure, promotion and reappointment procedures, and ensuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures related to faculty affairs.

The Assistant Provost will collaborate closely with academic departments and other administrative offices to address faculty concerns and promote a positive and supportive work environment conducive to scholarly excellence.

Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES: 35% - Essential - Liaison for a subset of Colleges with SAP oversight and leadership: Serves as implementation, communication, and training/consulting team leader focused on faculty and administrators for a set of Colleges (TBD) for the following: policies and directives from academic affairs and faculty senate impacting faculty such as review and reporting systems, operations, and intra-institutional shared governance structures.

For these Colleges, manages routine aspects of information gathering for formal complaints reviews, personnel concerns, and compliance matters in consult with and as directed by the SAP.

25% - Essential - Anticipates and prepares the following with SAP oversight and routing for executive review: Just-in-time tenure cases of job candidates, sabbaticals, probationary period changes, search and review committees for endowed chairs and named professors, joint appointment agreements, Family Support and Accommodations Plan (FSAP), and other transactions and operations supporting faculty careers and appointments.

20% - Essential - Academic leadership support: Serves as a co-liaison with SAP for the ACC-ALN (academic leadership network), works with SAP to establish meaningful agendas and activities plus manages and coordinates programming for formal retreats and professional development activities including the annual Department Chairs Retreat, Faculty Orientation, and new programming for faculty and administrators for goal setting, annual reviews, merit reviews, and activity reporting.

Co-prepares the agenda with the SAP and co-presents with the Senior Director of Faculty Systems administrative faculty workshops such as the TPR `breakfast, the annual TPR roadshow, new programming for goals setting and faculty activity reporting.

10% - Essential - Academic administrator searches: Coordinates searches and prepares appropriate faculty appointment reviews.

Collaborates and coordinates with the Provost s Chief of Staff and SAP to lead, launch, and manage administrative faculty searches (committees, interview and visit logistics, liaison with search firms where relevant) . 10% - Essential - Faculty subject matter expert: Meets regularly with SAP to discuss issues that need to be escalated in operations, transactions, and escalations that support faculty affairs; serves in this capacity as needed for university level special projects and for academic units as directed by the SAP, serves as a backup faculty affairs team member for managing and running in person, online, and hybrid meetings as needed; other duties and opportunities as discussed and assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education - Master's Degree Experience - 3+ years experience in faculty affairs within a higher education institution PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree Experience - 5+ years experience in faculty affairs within a R1 higher education institution, or 5+ years experience as a faculty member with demonstrated desire to transition to directed administrative staff position RESPONSIBILITIES JOB KNOWLEDGE Comprehensive Job Knowledge - Comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Stand for prolonged period Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself WORKING CONDITIONS: No Work Conditions WORK SCHEDULE: Standard Hrs: 37.5 COMPENSATION INFORMATION Anticipated Hiring Range ($90,000.00 - $110,000.00) Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Normal Operations Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
