General Description: To support and enhance literacy instruction at the K-5 grade levels.

Rationale: Research has shown, students who are not reading proficiently by 3rd grade are more likely to struggle in the classroom and are linked to higher rates of school drop out.

This position will allow the district to have a staff member focus solely on supporting teachers in literacy instruction and the continuous review of our curriculum to ensure students are receiving the highest level of instruction and support in literacy.

Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in elementary education, with a strong understanding of the Science of Reading.

Demonstrated success in improving student literacy achievement through evidence-based instructional practices.

Experience providing professional development and coaching support to teachers recommended.

097 and 102 certification, 097 certification is preferred.

Job Responsibilities: * Collaboration with elementary school teachers to assess their instructional needs and develop tailored professional development plans.

* Implement district identified coaching cycles focused on best practices in literacy instruction, including co-teaching, teacher observations of Literacy Coach, and debrief sessions to unpack the model lessons.

* Stay current on the Science of Reading, research-based strategies and instructional resources to enhance teacher effectiveness.

* Collaborate with district/building administration and teachers to set goals for improving literacy outcomes and develop strategies to meet these goals.

* Analyze literacy assessment data to identify trends, areas of improvement and success stories related to literacy.

* Foster a collaborative and supportive culture among teaching staff, promoting a shared commitment to literacy excellence.

* Work closely with the district/building administration to develop and refine literacy curriculum that aligns to the Science of Reading, CCSS and district purchased programming, including HMH Into Reading.

* Create and curate instructional materials and resources to support all student learning.
