HVAC TECHNICIAN I ZACHRY is currently seeking a HVAC Technician I for Maintenance work.

Position Summary A HVAC Technician I will support and execute the safe, quality, and efficient completion of various tasks related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning maintenance work being performed at a petrochemical processing plant, including but not limited to: Craft specific HVAC labor Perform skilled HVAC maintenance duties including the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of a wide variety of heating/distribution systems (e.g., gas, central heat, forced air ducted, gas fired radiant tube heat, electric powered radiant panel heat, hydronic radiant heating, electric radiant heat, packaged terminal units, heat pumps, and low pressure steam boiler systems), air conditioning systems (e.g., air conditioners, chillers, packaged terminal units, and window units) and refrigeration units (e.g., built-up coolers and freezers, domestic appliances, ice making machines, and commercial systems). Providing support services such as but not limited to firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, general housekeeping, etc.

Must have reliable transportation Must be willing and able to work: Up to 7 days per week Overtime, call-out, etc.

Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to oversee safety-sensitive work which includes but is not limited to the preparation, set-up, and execution of hot work, confined space entry, and fresh air work.

Must be experienced with and/or capable of successfully completing all required training/qualifications necessary to utilize all related tools, apparatuses, equipment, etc.

Must have a strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and electronic trade practices, procedures, theory.

Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing HVAC Technician I activities.

Must be capable of reading, understanding, and adhering to restrictions and/or requirements of various types of work permits and/or JSAs.

Must successfully complete Short Service Employee (SSE) program, if applicable.

Must successfully complete a 90-day probationary period.

Any disciplinary and/or attendance issues during this time will be grounds for termination.

Must maintain satisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of no less than 3.0.

Unsatisfactory bi-annual evaluation scores of less than 3.0 for two consecutive cycles will result in disciplinary action, up to termination, for poor performance.

Position Responsibilities Must have a strong approach, understanding, and commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in an industrial environment.

Must be capable of and will be expected to perform pre-task hazard assessments to identify potential risks and implement pro-active elimination and/or mitigation techniques.

Must have extensive and demonstrated experience performing maintenance on various types of industrial equipment in a petrochemical facility.

Must actively participate and support site programs such as (at a minimum): Safe Catch/Quality Catch/Stop Work Authority Continuous Improvement (SMART Focus) Applicable customer initiatives/programs Perform skilled HVAC maintenance duties including the installation, maintenance, and operation of a wide variety of heating/distribution systems (e.g., gas, central heat, forced air ducted, gas fired radiant tube heat, electric powered radiant panel heat, hydronic radiant heating, electric radiant heat, packaged terminal units, heat pumps, and low pressure steam boiler systems), air conditioning systems (e.g., air conditioners, chillers, packaged terminal units, and window units) and refrigeration units (e.g., built-up coolers and freezers, domestic appliances, ice making machines, and commercial systems). Provides support services such as but not limited to firewatch, holewatch, bottlewatch, light equipment/vehicle operation, material kitting/delivery, general housekeeping, etc.

Preferred Qualifications Current or Former Zachry Employee with acceptable ESR rating only.

Reports to Position This position does not have any direct reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have at a minimum 5 years of related experience as a HVAC Technician I.

Must currently hold EPA Universal and Type I certifications.

Must have experience using industrial hand and power tools in an industrial work environment.

Must possess good problem-solving abilities and an agile mindset.

Must possess aptitude for mechanical equipment, have effective computing, literacy, and numeracy skills, and manual dexterity.

Must possess the ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.

Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and valid Driver's License.

Must possess effective communication skills (written and/or verbal) with co-workers, supervisors, and customer.

Must possess a strong commitment/understanding of Zachry and customer core values, safety rules, and regulations.

Must possess and maintain a valid TWIC card for the duration of employment.

Must successfully complete and maintain applicable Safety Council and/or Site-Specific credentials for the duration of employment.

Must be capable of reading and comprehending technical manuals as well as industrial/engineered drawings such as but not limited to blueprints, sketches, plans, P&ID, etc.

to determine scope of work, locations, required tools/equipment, and bill of materials to execute activities.

Must poses knowledge and experience of hoisting/lifting/and rigging practices to execute these activities in a safe and controlled manner with the assistance of come-along, cranes, etc.

Must poses knowledge and experience with basic electrical theory, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits up to 480V.

Must poses knowledge and experience with basic troubleshooting of electrical circuits, the ability to use multi-meters, and read current and resistance values.

Must poses knowledge and experience with refrigerant controls (metering devices), electric motors (1 and 3 phase), motor controls (contactors, starters, relays, disconnects, thermostats, etc.). Must be capable of leading and mentoring other crew members such as helpers, apprentices, and Journeymen II.

Must poses skills and ability to preplan, coordinate, and order material for specific jobs/activities/tasks.

Will be expected to assist other crafts when not actively performing HVAC Technician I activities.

Physical Requirements Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, cycling, bending, squatting, lifting, and physically demanding work.

Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.

Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.

Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50lbs.

Must be capable and comfortable working at extreme heights on fixed, temporary, and/or mobile platforms.

Must be capable and comfortable working within confined spaces to include but not limited to tanks, vessels, pits, excavations, etc.

Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.

Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.

Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, chemical suits, and steel-toe boots.
