PRIMARY PURPOSE/SCOPE The primary purpose of the Assistant Football Coach-Offensive Coordinator is to assist the Head Football Coach in promoting a football program that is in harmony with the Christian principles of Bluefield University.

The assistant coach will assist in giving directions to the athletes included in the football program of Bluefield University while fostering and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS The Assistant Football Coach is directly responsible to the Head Football Coach.

The essential duties, responsibilities, and functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: * Department Administration (15%) * Assists the Head Football Coach in leading the football program in harmony with and supportive of the institutional mission and philosophy of Bluefield University.

* Works with the athletic trainers and medical health services to ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

* Works cooperatively with personnel in the Athletics Department, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and other coaches, media, and the general public.

* Provides recommendations for rewards for deserving athletes.

Complies with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Bluefield University, the NAIA, and the AAC.

* Reports all score results to the proper media outlies and to the Sports Information Director.

* Teaching/Coaching (50%) * Coordinate the offensive system.

* Organize and conduct offensive practice sessions.

* Coach and teach a position group(s) * Assists with off-season training fitness, agility, and strength training programs.

* Assists the Head Coach with all aspects of a nationally competitive football program, including team travel, video editing, recruiting, on-field coaching, monitoring academics, and fundraising campaigns.

* Provides tutoring and mentoring of athletes involved in the football program.

* Monitors and supervises student-athletes while at practice and while traveling to ensure their conduct is reflective of the mission of the University.

* Recruiting (30%) * Develop and organize recruitment of athletes to meet quota numbers and stay within the scholarship amounts as provided by the institution.

* Identify, evaluate, and recruit potential team members to Bluefield University.

* Possesses the knowledge of eligibility requirements and provides and maintains a list of eligible athletes.

* Retains current BU students as team members.

* Ensures that program recruiting activities adhere to University policies and procedures.

* Other Duties (5%) * Provides reports and documentation when required by the Director of Athletics.

* Possesses the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and implement work, and be able to apply logic and creativity in order to solve problems and deal with mathematical and financial aspects.

* Possesses the ability to receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.

* Performs all other duties as assigned.

* Compliance with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Bluefield University, the NAIA, NCCAA, and AAC.

* Interprets policies for employees and enforces safety regulations.

* Complies with all rules, policies, and procedures as established by Bluefield University.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

MARGINAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS The marginal duties, responsibilities, and functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: * Must be able to plan, organize, prioritize, and implement work.

Apply logic and creativity to solve problems and deal with mathematical and financial aspects.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS This position supervises any volunteers and student workers who are assigned to the football program and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the University's policies and applicable laws.

Supervisory duties, responsibilities, and functions include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to demonstrate, explain, and perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of the following skills and abilities.

* Must be able to support the Mission Statement, purpose, and goals of the University, and express a personal Christian commitment.

* The Assistant Football Coach must possess a minimum of a B.S./B.A degree * The Assistant Football Coach must have a current and working knowledge of NAIA regulations.

* Must be able to accept direction from supervisor.

* The Assistant Football Coach must possess sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all equipment including but not limited to copy machines, computers, faxes, scanners, telephones as well as specialized equipment typically found in a modern athletic training and office environment.

ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS The position of the Assistant Football Coach is a physically demanding job.

The functions are performed sitting, standing, stooping, squatting, bending, jumping, and running.

The assistant coach should be in sufficient physical condition to perform administrative and coaching duties.

The operation of vehicles and the transportation of athletes are duties that are required at various times.

Tasks such as working at a computer or typewriter involve extensive wrist and hand movements.

All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk or injury to themselves or others, or otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform these essential functions listed above or listed in a particular position description.

Specialized Equipment Requirements The use of specialized equipment listed here is representative of equipment an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

Specialized equipment would be equipment typically found in modern athletic facilities.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The Assistant Football Coach's performance will be based on the ability to meet departmental and divisional objectives.

Performance will also be based on the ability to advance institutional objectives.

The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to the following: * Ability to develop student-athletes to their fullest potential * Ability to fulfill job description requirements as listed above in a timely and effective manner.

* Ability to perform administrative functions such as supervision, budget preparation, and management.

* Ability to recruit quality student-athletes.
