Learn more about the UNT System and how we live our values at Department Summary The College of Music is searching for a Repair Technician to join our team in the COM Instrument Repair Shop.

This position will serve as the lead woodwind repair technician for our UNT owned instruments and student owned instruments in addition to possibly serving as an adjunct faculty member (with an additional stipend) in woodwind repair course instruction depending on qualifications.

Position Overview The primary function of this position is to serve as the woodwind repair technician for all university owned instruments and student-owned instruments for the College of Music.

This position will also be responsible for woodwind repair for non-UNT instruments/customers as time allows.

Assist in managing the storage, inventory, and rental of university-owned instruments.

Assist in providing oversight for brass and woodwind repair course instruction.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years' of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of related tools, equipment, materials, and techniques of musical instrument repair.

Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, charts, and designs.

Ability to work from ideas and to draw own sketches and designs.

Ability to locate and identify malfunctions in equipment.

Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment.

Ability to design, troubleshoot, and maintain complex equipment.

Ability to operate standard tools and equipment.

Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications 35 years background in repairing woodwind instruments in an educational/music environment.Experience working with extended range/auxiliary woodwind instruments.

Teaching experience in the field of woodwind repair.

Required License/Registration/Certifications Job Duties: * % - Serve as the primary woodwind repair technician for UNT owned instruments and music students.

- * % - Assist in developing curriculum for music instrument repair courses and workshops.

- * % - Assist in training and supervising any hourly workers within the instrument repair shop.

- * % - Assist in managing the storage, inventory, and rental of university owned instruments.

- * % - Help perform basic operations of the repair shop, including equipment/tool maintenance and acquisition and keeping an inventory of necessary supplies.

- * % - Provide repair services for external customers as time permits to raise additional funding in support of student repair services.

- * % - Other duties as assigned.

- Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and as needed.
