Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant with at least 4 years of recent experience in general practice.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

As a Veterinary Assistant at Northside Veterinary Clinic, your primary responsibilities will involve providing direct support to the veterinarian, veterinary technician, and senior veterinary assistants. You will assist senior staff by restraining animals for venipuncture, X-rays, and treatment therapy, as well as helping with any other necessary procedures as directed by the veterinarian. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that the clinic is fully stocked each day and that the team is adequately prepared in the morning, evenings, and before each examination.

Essential Duties:

Prepare exam room before the veterinary technician or senior veterinary assistant escorts the client and patient into the exam room

Restrain patients during examinations and assist senior staff with procedures and treatments as directed by the Veterinarian.

Hold for venipuncture, collect urine, fecal and other biological samples as requested by veterinarian.

Educate owners on proper care and med administration on behalf of the prescribing doctor.

Assist with preparing, packaging, recording, and storing any labs going out for analysis. Coordinate all items when it is time for pick up if necessary.

Write up medical records and in put invoice items in patience invoice.

Maintain and organize the pharmacy area and inform the directed inventory lead when stocks are low or out.

Maintain and stock the clinic each morning, evening and in-between examinations as necessary.

Qualifications:

Previous experience 3+ years working as a veterinary assistant required

College degree in veterinary technology or license eligible is preferred; must have a High School diploma or equivalent.

Proficiency in veterinary software systems and knowledge of medical terminology.

Proficiency in writing medical records.

Knowledge of animal behavior, anatomy, and physiology.

Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.

Compassionate and caring attitude towards animals.

Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
