Summary

The Firmware Design Engineer will cooperate with team members, Software architects, Test and Verification team on the successful delivery of high-quality designs. The selected candidate will deal with the design and development of Software compliant with medical standards (medical devices development for minimally invasive surgery - insufflators and pumps).

Furthermore, the Firmware Design Engineer will focus on maintainability, scalability, and testability of the software modules and work on improvements of personal as well as team ability to estimate the effort and execute.

Primary Responsibilities

Requirements analysis.

Growing design blocks ownership responsibility based on the seniority progression.

Planning and execution of design and code reviews.

Participate in the identification and assimilation of the best practices in the area of software development.

Application of defensive programming principles, continuous integration.

Implementation of software modules.

Creating the necessary documentation.

Cooperation in prototype construction and testing.

Implementation of technical changes in a series of products/product maintenance.

Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and technology development.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

The desired candidate will have a degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

Knowledge in system development and software design.

Understanding of Object-oriented Paradigm and design patterns.

Experience with embedded software (object-oriented) and relevant programming languages (e.g. C, C++ or other).

Proficient use of software development tools and Microsoft Office.

Self-motivated person.

Good written and spoken English knowledge.

Knowledge in the fields of electrical engineering and communication protocols is a plus.

Knowledge of the RTOS (especially the QNX operating system) is a plus.

Python programming language is a plus.

Travel Requirements

Occasional travel to Berlin.Less than 10% of work time a year.
