ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Chief People Officer (CPO) is an integral member of the ONE team, a group of talented professionals dedicated to the common goals of ending extreme poverty and preventable disease. They champion this cause by developing innovative and strategic initiatives to achieve ONE’s mission. The CPO partners with senior leadership to cultivate a collaborative and creative environment that is mission-driven; and to build and retain a high-performing team. The CPOs primary role is to lead a team of HR professionals that drives the employee experience, ensuring a robust culture of motivated and high performing talent.

The CPO is responsible for providing leadership, planning and development for all global human resources activities, including talent management, employee relations, benefits administration, compensation management, training and development, compliance with employment laws and regulations, policy and procedure development and implementation. The CPO will devise and implement human resources strategies to best enable the organization to deliver on its mission and will partner with senior and executive management to ensure alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives. This position is based in Washington, D.C.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

Plan, develop, and direct ONE’s HR functions across all offices in Africa, Europe and North America in accordance with the policies and practices of ONE, applicable legal and regulatory rules, and industry best practices.

Lead a team of global HR professionals and oversee the administrative function of the Washington, DC office.

Function as a strategic advisor to executive/senior management regarding key organizational and management issues.

Lead a robust people management program that supports ONE’s consistently high performance and guides the evolution of ONE’s people and culture into the future. This includes attracting and retaining a diverse workforce through performance management, talent acquisition, learning and development.

Foster a transparent, equitable, and ethical work environment that meets the needs of a dynamic, high-performing organization,

Guide the senior leadership, management, and HR team is a key player in achieving the organization’s objective to be a “great place to work.”

Lead on and continually improve ONE’s progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs across markets to incentivize and reward effective performance.

Utilize organizational development and change management strategies to lead and communicated major new initiatives, significant policy changes and organizational shifts, and drive organizational effectiveness.

Work closely with the COO and CEO and senior leadership in support of high-level organizational projects and initiatives

Provide practical formal/informal executive coaching and development in all functions of leadership, particularly in cultural development, alignment and change management at the individual, team, and organizational level.

Guide regional HR leaders in resolving employee relations issues and provide effective conflict resolution and coaching to managers and associates.

Maintain knowledge of market trends and all relevant local, national, and international employment legislation/regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.

Manage the budget and other financial measures of the HR team.

WHAT YOU BRING TO ONE

The successful candidate is committed to the mission of ONE. Beyond that, the CPO has experience in managing a multi-site international organization and exhibit a demonstrated ability to both build and support a diverse multi-national team. Executive Management experience within a not-for-profit organization is preferred. Previous experience with a campaign or advocacy group is a plus. Additional requirements include:

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the human resources and/or operations fields at increasing levels of responsibility plus a minimum of 5 years managing and leading a multifunctional and international team.

Experience developing team structures, workforce planning and strategic vision across a global organization.

Possess expert technical HR knowledge across all broad issue areas such as talent management, benefits administration, performance management, employee relations, compensation management, training and development, and payroll; familiarity with the use of UltiPro (highly preferred) or equivalent HRIS Systems preferred.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of best practices and applicable employment law and regulations across the U.S. and internationally, preferably in ONE’s core countries in North America, Europe, and Africa.

Must be a strategic thinker with experience partnering with senior and executive leadership to implement HR-related programs and initiatives across a global organization.

Possess knowledge of organizational development concepts and models such as HR lifecycle process development, internal mobility, succession planning, employee engagement monitoring tools, team effectiveness, change management, organizational design, and leadership development.

Have experience building positive working relationships with executive and senior-level professionals.

Have the ability to anticipate and plan for future staffing needs.

Be an exceptional written and verbal communicator with strong presentation skills.

Possess excellent judgment, particularly in interpersonal matters and “judgment calls” related to fairness, confidentiality, and dispute and conflict resolution.

TRAVEL:

Travel up to 20%.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

ONE offers competitive compensation and an exceptional benefits package along with the opportunity to contribute to worldwide causes impacting those most in need.

$211,000 – 230,000 per year
