A highly respected boutique law firm practicing in a variety business and civil litigation is seeking an exceptional litigation paralegal to assist its Medical Malpractice defense group. We are searching for a paralegal with a strong academic background and three or more years of experience assisting attorneys in medical malpractice or personal injury litigation. Qualified candidates will possess superior communication skills and work well in a collaborative office setting.
Responsibilities:
Organize case documents, obtain and review medical records, and prepare summaries
Assist in deposition preparation, scheduling, and transcript indexing
Conduct research on expert witnesses, manage subpoenas, and draft pleadings
Perform legal research, compile findings, and maintain case calendars
Draft and send assorted pleadings and documents to counsel, courts and clients as needed, such as routine correspondence, deposition notices, briefs, motions, orders, petitions, and discovery
File and coordinate service of documents
Manage scheduling order deadlines for multiple cases filed in various jurisdictions, both state and federal and ensure calendar is accurately maintained
Qualifications & Skills:
Three (3) or more years of paralegal experience, preferably in medical malpractice, personal injury, or related civil defense litigation
Paralegal certificate from an accredited school
Experience assisting attorneys from case inception to resolution
Detail oriented with good time management and meeting deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work well as part of a team
Excellent communication skills; works with clients, attorneys, and staff with ease
