As a CAD Specialist, you will be responsible for providing drafting assistance in developing / revising conceptual AutoCAD drawings for new and existing Mobile Offshore Drilling Units [Jackups, Semis & Drill Ships]. Coordinating with Lead engineers from Location Evaluation Department and developing associated rig positioning drawings as per guidelines provided. Generating relative support system drawings for assigned Engineering discipline (Structural, Piping / Mechanical, Electrical & Compliance). Developing and implementing engineering drawing control, CAD drawing rules and procedures. Monitoring departmental compliance regarding CAD policies, standards, and procedures. Reviewing external design firm’s drawings for Noble drawings for compliance with Noble CAD standards prior to issuing drawings. Ensuring accurate and timely production of drawings for the department and / or region requesting CAD drawings for a particular project as directed by Engineering Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree / Diploma in Industrial Technology / Design and Drafting or equivalent.

6 - 8 years design and drafting experience in marine / offshore industry.

Knowledge of rig construction including detailed design / production drawings for structures, outfitting, piping / mechanical / electrical systems, general arrangements, etc.

Knowledge of Jackup rig positioning drawing along existing offshore platforms.

Knowledge of the requirements of various regulatory agencies as they relate to the offshore drilling industry (Class societies, Flag / Coastal State, etc.).

High degree of proficiency in AutoCAD and CAD-related software, graphics software / hardware and communications software.

Work independently both individually and with groups.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Travel is an essential job function (approximately 10%, domestic & international).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Creating new and / or modifying existing CAD design drawings / sketches as required for the assigned Engineering discipline. This may include updating miscellaneous drawings pertaining to hull primary structure and hull outfitting / secondary structure, piping / mechanical systems, electrical schematics / diagrams, instrumentation, general arrangement / regulatory type plans, etc., based on shipyard / vendor / operations and Noble drawing info provided for new and existing MODU designs / modifications.

Generating rig positioning drawings around offshore platforms based on information received from Location Evaluation Department.

Performing field survey onboard drilling units and producing AutoCAD drawings from field notes, sketches, or own designs.

Maintaining, records and following a standard traceable filing system of drawings and associated documents for future reference.

Generating & updating CAD drawings for Engineering, Construction, Regulatory Compliance and Operational purposes to meet requirements for submission to Classification Societies and Flag / Coastal States.

Preparing drawings / sketches for Marketing / Technical presentations / brochures / proposals / bids, etc., for new and existing MODU designs / modifications as assigned by Engineering management.

Liaising with operations, project teams, in-house EDM Team and vendors as required to ensure accuracy of Noble design drawings.

Assisting in the development, implementation, and usage of Noble’s CAD, Structural, Piping / Mechanical and Electrical Standards.

Utilizing network plotters for generating D (24” by 36”) and E (36” by 48”) sized drawings and using network printers / photocopiers to print 11” x 17” sized drawings in both black / white and color formats.

Submitting progress / activity reports, and other administrative items, as directed.

Travelling offshore or to shipyard projects for rig surveys as required. Overseas travel will be required.
