The Training and Development Specialist II designs, develops, and coordinates a comprehensive range of training and education programs. This role provides training sessions using lectures, group discussions, team exercises, hands-on examples, and other training formats. The incumbent in this role will work closely with technical writers and the customer to interpret complex, technical information and translate it into an easily understandable training format, per customer guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Develops training curricula and/or recommends or utilizes programs that meet instructional goals and objectives

· Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, and online or web-based courses.

· Selects or develops training aids, including training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works

· Design and create training manuals, online learning modules, and course materials

· Uses a variety of instructional techniques to deliver group and individual instruction and training covering a range of technical, operational, and/or maintenance areas

· Works with project team to design and develop SCORM-compliant eLearning

· Develops storyboards and scripts for eLearning

· Upload and configure eLearning content into learning management systems

· Communicates status of work to management and any needs for additional information

· Completes assigned tasks according to established deadlines and customer specifications and according to company policies and procedures

· Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Working Environment:

· General office environment; required to use office equipment (personal computer, telephone/smartphone, photocopier); required to sit/stand for long periods of time

· May be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

· May be required (on short notice) to work overtime/additional hours to meet deadlines; may occasionally require weekend and/or working holidays, as needed

· May be required to travel by motor vehicle and/or airplane to complete job requirements; estimated to be less than 20%

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

· Associate degree in a technical or mechanical field, or equivalent work experience is required

· Bachelor’s degree in instructional design or a related field in training development, engineering, or technical field is preferred

Experience:

· Four to six (4-6) years of instructional design/development experience is required

· Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques is required

Technical Experience:

· Basic to intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and desktop publishing tools is required

· Experience with web-based training authoring software such as, Adobe Captivate 7 or higher and Articulate 360

· Previous experience in the operations, troubleshooting and maintenance of Aircraft, Communications, Electronics, Heavy Vehicle, and/or Rail equipment preferred

Certification/Licensure:

· Valid driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record is required

· Secret clearance issued by the DoD may be required

· Government/Military Common Access Card (CAC) to work on assigned contracts and/or projects may be required

· CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) is preferred

· Certification or licensure in a technical field (automotive or aerospace) is preferred
