Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Manager, Human Resource Operations.

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Operations, the Human Resources Operations Manager (Production) is part of a dynamic and fast-paced team that deals with a broad scope of labour relations and human resources issues.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

Education: Post-secondary education in Labour Relations/Human Resources.

Experience: 10+ years of human resources/labour relations experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.

Experience as a leader of people.

Exceptional relationship management and communication skills (both oral and written), including the demonstrated ability to handle challenging conversations as well as highly developed interpersonal skills necessary for effective mediations and conflict resolution.

Strong business acumen and the ability to solve problems quickly and pragmatically, utilizing data and sound judgment.

Excellent documentation and file management skills.

Given the expectations for labour relations, flexibility, adaptability, and decisiveness.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams) and HR Information Systems.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:

Lead a team of HR Business Partners and Labour Relations professionals who act as the primary point of contact to leaders/union representatives within their assigned client portfolios.

Provide a high standard of service to leaders and employees within the organization and ensure HR programs are effectively communicated and implemented.

Work proactively to build constructive relationships with leadership and union representatives throughout the company with a focus on credibility and accountability, enabling business objectives.

Collaborate with and counsel people leaders to ensure efficient and effective issue resolution of workplace issues (staff and hourly).

Administer the terms of Collective Agreements and company policies/procedures; advise leaders to ensure compliance (e.g. attendance management).

Manage the grievance process to ensure the timely resolution of disputes.

Conduct workplace investigations and mediations ensuring that proper documentation and reporting are occurring. Oversee and administer corrective action where necessary.

Provide labour relations, collective agreement and other HR training to maintain a constructive work environment.

Participate in arbitrations and other dispute resolution processes or statutory processes.

Be involved in labour relations initiatives, project work and collective bargaining.

Contribute to data management and departmental process improvements.
