The Opportunity
The role will require the right candidate to provide internal legal support to the leadership, partners and employees of EY Trinidad ensuring business activities are carried in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations and EY Global network’s policies and procedures. This position foresees working with all EYC countries and colleagues in various Service Lines and business support functions as required and will report directly to EY Law Associate Partner and Global General Counsel’s Office (Global GCO) teams.
Key responsibilities
Contribute to ensuring legal compliance with specific emphasis on AML, public procurement and labour law, mitigating legal risks and protecting EY Trinidad business legal interests
Provide oral and written advice to the firms’ management and employees on matters relevant for the EY operations
Draft or review the firms’ contracts with clients, vendors, employees and other third parties
Facilitate GDPR compliance locally
Participate in the implementation of internal projects requiring legal input
Participate in drafting internal regulation, policies and procedures in alignment with the EY global policies and procedures to the local specifics
Monitor developments of legislation and notifying the respective firms’ leadership on changes as well as provide recommendations and clarifications
Liaise with external law firms, governmental agencies and authorities
Directly report to and cooperate with EYC General Counsel
Cooperate with other members of CESA GCO and Global GCO teams
Perform duties in strict compliance with EY internal regulations

High work ethics and integrity
To qualify for the role you must hold
Solid academic background holding University degree in Law
Minimum 7-10 years work experience as an Attorney, either with an in-house legal department of an international company, law firm or sole practitioner, and therefore ready to work independently
Legal Education Certificate and membership with Trinidad and Tobago Law Association
Knowledge of key national and EU laws and regulations governing business activities of EY, including but not limited to Civil law, Corporate law, Commercial law, Industrial Relations, AML, Public Procurement law and Employment law
