Job Description

The Journey Church is looking for an energetic, upbeat person with leadership and administrative gifts to make a difference for Jesus serving on our team in Boca Raton as Pastor of Ministry & Assimilation.

This role is ideal for someone with a bachelor degree minimum and a masters preferred – who has the gift of teaching and wants to develop as a minister and grow with the church. This is a key position with the potential to move to executive staff level in time. Salary is competitive and will be based on experience/education and will be confirmed early in the interview process. The position is available immediately.

Casual dress, fun, fast-growing work environment. Rewarding ministry and amazing people.

Is this Position Right For You?

Do you have a teaching gift and a desire to develop that gift and communicate in both large (Sundays) and medium-sized (Membership Class, etc.) settings?

Are you passionate about raising up new leaders and volunteers, seeing people get connected in the church and challenging them to grow in their faith?

Do you believe that every believer has spiritual gifts that could serve the church and are you passionate about seeing people mobilized to serve the church and God's kingdom?

Can you work with our team to increase the number of people serving in ministry, improve our care/follow-up to new believers and create systems that see ever more people taking the step to be baptized and becoming members of the church?

Do you enjoy recruiting volunteers and working with them to create a great environment on Sundays for everyone who attends – especially first time guests?

Are you passionate about follow-up and seeing people assimilated into the church (from first-time guests to fully developed followers of Jesus)?

Are you interested in helping a growing church continue to grow?

Do you have a high view of ministry and of 'serving as part of discipleship' and do you have a strong desire to reach unchurched young professionals?

This is not a pastoral care position, but an equipping and teaching position to make a difference in South Florida for Jesus!

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, growth and innovation of The Journey’s ministry and volunteer systems – with the goal of getting 50% of Sunday attendance involved in meaningful ministry on a r basis.

Leading The Journey's Assimilation System in moving first time guests to becoming fully developing members. This includes the Sunday experience, follow-up to first time guests and next step decisions, new believer follow-up and care, leading people to take the step of baptism and then to attend Membership Class and beyond.

Requires the ability to lead teams effectively, to raise up new leaders at a rapid rate and to communicate/teach.

The ability to teach on Sundays, host from stage (welcome, announcements, etc.) regularly, lead members classes monthly and contribute to The Journey's teaching team on a weekly basis. Requires the commitment to grow and develop as a communicator as a part of The Journey’s teaching team.

Organizational and administrative skills are an absolute must.

Must be hard-working, bring energy and enthusiasm to the table, and have had leadership experience on a large or growing church staff.

Other desired characteristics include strong interpersonal skills; growing leader; team builder; sense of humor; risk-taker (seminary not required).

Job Requirements:

The ability to lead and manage a growing Family Ministry

A passion for the Bible and innovation

The ability to manage a large and growing Ministry & Volunteer System

A team player

Experience in a large/growing church

A positive attitude

Familiarity with The Purpose Driven Church Model

A risk-taker

A passion for helping people take spiritual next steps and not letting anyone fall through the cracks

A drive for evangelism and reaching the unchurched

A high commitment to the local church

Comfortable in a non-charismatic worship environment

Bachelor’s Degree required; MDiv or Master’s Degree or greater preferred

Only resumes accompanied with a COVER LETTER will be considered.

The cover letter should be personalized for this position and should answer these questions:

(1) Why you are interested in this position?

(2) Have you read the book “Fusion: Turning First Time Guests into Fully Engaged Members of Your Church” by Journey Founding Pastor, Nelson Searcy?

(3) Are you familiar with The Purpose Driven Church model (crowd to core, spiritual development process, etc.)?

(4) Where are you located in South Florida? If not local, why you would feel comfortable relocating to South Florida?

(5) And what makes you stand out from other candidates as a great fit for this position?

*Also – if you have a recent video/audio of you teaching in front of a group (large or small) – please include that along with your resume and cover letter

This is an incredible opportunity to make an eternal difference in the lives of families.

Company Description

The Journey is a casual, contemporary church located in the beautiful city of Boca Raton, FL.

Boca Raton is a city of 100,000 that is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live and raise a family in the U.S. Despite it's outward beauty, Boca Raton is spiritually lost with about 83% of the people within 7 miles of The Journey Church living without the hope of Christ.

We like to refer to Boca as the most beautiful mission field in America, and The Journey Church is on the front lines of reaching this community for Christ.

The Journey Church launched the start of weekly services in 2011, meeting at a local high school. After 8 years of life-changing ministry in rented facilities, on Easter Sunday 2019 we celebrated the Grand Opening of our permanent Ministry and Worship Center in the heart of Boca Raton.

We are passionate about reaching our community for Christ, and seeing the people of South Florida become fully-developing followers of Jesus.

Our staff love God, love each other, and are motivated by our passion for evangelism, discipleship, worship, groups and family ministry, and our heart to meet needs in our city.

God has blessed our church, not only here in Boca Raton, but at our campuses in New York City. And we believe that the best days are still ahead!
