Job Description

Job Summary:

The Health Accountant will be responsible in driving financial performance across the business. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of prior accounting experience, possess excellent analytical skills, and has a strong attention to detail. This role requires an individual who is a team player but can work independently.

Job Responsibilities:

Implement monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports)

Put together monthly consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting.

Analyze monthly account reconciliations and communicate any unusual trends to management.

Lead the inventory reconciliation process.

Create analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks).

Prepare schedules for auditors and promptly respond to their inquiries.

Achieve compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures and controls by working with business partners.

Continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process.

Participate in various initiatives spanning multiple departments.

Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.

Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

Works with external tax accountants to file required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.

As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Extensive Knowledge of and Experience with General Financial and Cost Accounting.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel to help analyze large sets of data & identify accounting system issues.

Experience implementing new accounting systems.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.

Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent experience required

CPA highly preferred

Minimum 3-5 years of overall general accounting experience

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to work onsite in Richmond, Virginia a minimum of three days per week.
