Job Description
Summary:
The Food Handler will responsible for carrying out daily food handling tasks of the worksite. S/he will work closely with the facilities Food Handling Manager to ensure that food handling plans are performed according to long-term facility goals and all federal, state and city regulations.
Responsibilities:
The Food Handler is responsible for, but not limited to:
Food Handling:
Preparing, inspecting, and handing out food and beverages for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Handling unpackaged and/or packaged foods or beverages
Prepping and cleaning the diner during and after meals, including walls and tables
Receiving and storing deliveries of food, beverages, supplies, and other related items
Using proper hygiene and sanitation methods when working with food
Maintaining food preparation and cooking area in a clean, neat, and orderly manner, including the refrigerators, freezers, ovens, steam tables, warmers, and pantry
Providing proper storage and care of food items and supplies
Following established procedures for food disposal, etc.
Assisting in complying with city, state, and federal building codes and industry standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Universal Precautions
Attending and participating in facility and professional group meetings as scheduled
Maintaining personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform policies and standards
Caring for and using related equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Following established procedures and standard of cleanliness, health, and safety
Working diplomatically to solve problems in the facility
Professional & Personal Qualifications:
At least one (1) year of facility food handling and/or housekeeping, preferably in a residential facility
High School Diploma/GED is required
Food handler certificate NYC/NYS
TB Testing with NCS results
CPR / First Aid preferred
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Certification preferred
Able to operate related equipment, tools, and materials used in the facility
Proven ability to work collaboratively well with diverse groups
Knowledge and experience of interacting with dual diagnosis personalities
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks effectively under pressure
Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and efficient
