Were are a digital mortgage platform that helps lenders distribute and underwrite mortgages digitally. The platform today powers digital distribution for 15 of the top 20 lenders in the UK as well as comparison for major brands e.g. Compare The Market, ClearScore, Confused.com, Experian, Go.Compare, Nerdwallet amongst others.

Our mission is to create a world where securing the best home finance deal is transparent, seamless and empowering. We do this through helping customers understand their mortgage options on their favourite comparison sites, and enabling them to apply for a mortgage directly with lenders or using a panel of mortgage brokers.

Responsibilities:

Experienced software engineer who can be individually productive in development, infrastructure configuration and deployment, or manage and mentor a team of engineers, leading by example.

Excellent written and verbal communicator who can listen, understand, synthesize and replay technical and non-technical project discussions.

Excited by the opportunity to work on new and early stage proof of concept projects and products with new ventures.

Comfortable with the ambiguity, pace and changes of direction that arise in these circumstances

Able to anchor a small to medium sized team as the senior engineering resource, owning technical design and delivery

Able to take a leadership role within a large engineering team, working with peer team leaders and reporting into a Head of Engineering

Strong familiarity with coding, tooling and infrastructure products across front-end and back-end development

Strong familiarity with software engineering processes including project and product lifecycle, development, code review, testing, release management, deployment and monitoring

Comfortable working across different infrastructure and environments, applying skills and experience to learn and get the best out of components that may be determined outside the project

Comfortable with security and able to seek and take advice

As a lead, you will, depending on the project, work independently or reporting directly to a Head of Engineering, Chief Architect or other senior technical staff to help coordinate across various engineering teams and projects.

While you are technically credible and know the details of what our engineers are working on, you will spend time ensuring our teams’ success, by putting each team member in the best position to succeed in their role.

You will always be looking for ways to improve productivity and increase the quality of outputs, and help in coordinating across various stakeholders and departments to accomplish goals collaboratively.

You will provide technical expertise, but will utilise your various “soft skills” to manage efficiently and effectively across a wide range of projects and teams to bring order from chaos by bringing consistency and alignment – being the glue - between all our engineering disciplines.

Must have:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Able to design scalable and supportable cloud native solutions

An expert in at least one high-level language

Comfortable working with ambiguity and using lean development approaches to learn fast and pivot when needed

Product-focused and have a pragmatic approach to engineering, prioritising delivering value to our customers and stakeholders

Inquisitive and curious, and ask great questions

Constantly learning, problem solving and pushing boundaries

Experienced across a broad scope of technologies

A team player who collaborates effectively with others

Able to understand, communicate and improve the quality of multiple teams

Nice to have:

• Experience working with diverse and hybrid teams across multiple locations

• Experience in high growth environments

• Great brokering skills and can achieve consensus amongst stakeholders

• Management experience and credibility

• Demonstrated longevity in at least one job

• A wealth of technical knowledge, skills, and experience

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or above in a related field.
