Position: Substance Abuse Counselor (CADC) (Mental Health experience and knowledge is a PLUS!)
Location: This position will require counseling services at both office locations in West Hollywood & DTLA-Skid Row offices
Overview:
MBI Health Services is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor with a keen sense of mental health knowledge & experience to join our team. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive and compassionate treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. As a Substance Abuse Counselor (CADAC), you will work closely with clients to develop individualized treatment plans, facilitate groups and individual therapy sessions, and provide education and support to help clients achieve long-term recovery.
Responsibilities:
Completes client evaluation based on assessment of their needs and complete diagnosis based on DSM 5 criteria and level of care placement based on ASAM Criteria.
Completes individualized treatment planning with clients including initial, on-going, continuing care and discharge plan.
Completes referral and discharge planning with client and family, or oversees referral completion with the Discharge Planner, if available.
Completes timely insurance reviews (or communicates needs to supervisor or treatment team).
Completes individual, group, and family counseling sessions which address the individual needs of the client, including relapse prevention.

Prepares and completes all necessary documentation and record keeping.
Prepares individualized daily notes, showing accurate and personalized documentation regarding the client’s progress and / or lack of progress.
Prepares and conducts lectures on substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders.
Maintains knowledge of and adheres to MBI Health Services, INC policies and procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
Attends continuing education classes.
Trains, mentors and guides entry level / training counselors as assigned.
Works within a team setting- works effectively with a treatment team format, knows how to work with supervision.
Develop goals and objectives with each client based on initial assessments (i.e., develop appropriate transition plans and help the client with all aftercare services).
Network with other social service agencies and other programs and make appropriate referrals and follow up to assure delivery of service.
Conduct individual and small group counseling sessions; participate in and facilitate large group counseling sessions as required.
Conduct workshops including but not limited to relapse prevention, self-help skills, and money management for their clients.
Work with clients thru Detox and MAT
Perform vitals, urine testing, Pregnancy test etc. needed for documentation.
Requirements:
CADC certification current from State of California OR self-identified person in recovery from substance use disorder must have a minimum of 3 years sobriety
must pass pre hire requirements including criminal background from the DOJ
ability to provide crisis intervention
experience in working in an outpatient setting for the underserved population
Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
Strong knowledge of behavior management principles and techniques
Experienced in Substance abuse and mental health counseling, preferably in a clinical setting
Experienced in conducting diagnostic evaluations and patient assessments
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time & Part-time
8 hour shift
Day shift
Evening shift
Monday to Friday
No weekends
