We are seeking a resourceful Senior Sourcing Manager to develop and implement improved strategic sourcing policies and initiatives with particular focus on packaging components to include some Packaging Engineering related tasks.

You will be part of a team that is responsible for supporting new product introductions (supplier and component selections), leading cost and service improvement projects as well as generating forward-looking cost forecasts and planning estimates. This position will also support the sourcing team in price and contract negotiations with our key suppliers.

To ensure success as a Senior Sourcing Manager, you should demonstrate sound knowledge of negotiation strategies and have a minimum of five years of experience in sourcing to include packaging component knowledge. An accomplished Senior Sourcing Manager will be someone whose expertise translates into on-time new product launches, higher profit margins and a competitive service advantage for the company.

This position will report to the Senior Purchasing Manager.

Compensation: $103k - $126k

Job Responsibilities

Evaluating and developing sourcing processes improvement strategies to include presenting to management for approval and execution

Analyzing and identifying cost reduction opportunities (at a commodity, product and or component level)

Developing and maintaining strong sourcing relationships with our key suppliers

Managing Packaging Engineering related tasks (arranging for SIOC testing, packaging compatibility testing, drop testing, etc. with outside testing companies)

Ability to support new product introductions and or quality improvements related to packaging componentry (using existing product specifications to estimate requirements then working with suppliers to determine the best option)

Receiving direction from the Supply Chain Team regarding purchasing needs then entering and monitoring purchase orders (validation of pricing, lead-times, etc. then communicating PO’s to suppliers to include monitoring for changes in quantity, delivery dates, etc.)

Support and or lead contract negotiations with suppliers to include cost, supply, service, quality and terms elements

Conducting market research and utilizing Requests For Quotes (RFQ’s) to validate price competitiveness amongst existing and or new suppliers

Estimating risks and applying risk minimizing techniques – dual sourcing, conflict avoidance, other – to reduce risks to supply

Participate in the development of goals and budgets for area of responsibility

Partner with other business areas (Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Sales) to understand business needs then translating these into executable improvement or project actions

Utilize standard project management tools and summary documents to track and communicate statuses of projects

Establish the rules and methods to assess existing supplier performance, and the selection methods/criteria for new suppliers

Organize and lead effective meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, packaging engineering, or a related field

At least five years' procurement experience in a related industry (chemical or general manufacturing experience preferred)

Experience in Packaging Engineering or sourcing of packaging components

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

Oracle experience preferred (or similar ERP system)

Comfortable and able to navigate in a relatively young and fast growing business

Willingness to travel to develop, promote, and maintain strategic sourcing relationships

First Year Deliverables (What to expect your first year)

3 Month

Meet with the various functional groups (Finance, Planning, Product Development and Quality) to gain an understanding of the Chemical Guys processes and department responsibilities

Develop an understanding of our product offerings (i.e. chemicals, kits, etc.) and related packaging needs through direct research, Detail Garage store visits and an overview provided by the Product Development team

Obtain Oracle system training from the Planning and Procurement teams: system overview, reporting capabilities, transaction processing (i.e. PO entry and management)

Review spend and manufacturing capabilities, at a supplier and product commodity level, to become familiar with the supplier base

Set-up introductory meetings with key suppliers

Manage and order finished goods and packaging components to support manufacturing and distribution operations

6 Month

Analyze, identify and present cost, service and risk mitigation improvement options (at a supplier, commodity, product or raw material level) to management for review and approval

Interact with the Sales and Product Development teams to support NPI packaging design creation and production scale-up related to promotional products and or programs

Use information gathered during the NPI process to develop and submit RFQ’s to support NPI’s

Manage supply disruptions for assigned products and commodities to reduce the risk and or length of backorders

12 month

Support annual budgeting processes by generating forward looking cost estimates for Packaging and other, assigned commodities or suppliers

Support the Procurement team in identifying and executing upon cost improvement activities (i.e. trains in the use of data analysis, historical trends and other factors to identify opportunities then the creation and use of RFQ’s to capture the identified savings)

Partners with management to provide guidance and leadership related to business goals and strategies
