Job Description
We are currently looking for a Silicon Photonics Engineer to join the photonics team at Analog Photonics. The role entails working collaboratively and cross-functionally with a multi-disciplinary team of CMOS, Electronics, and Systems engineers. Tasks will include design, layout and verification of a variety of gain elements, electro-optic phase shifters/modulators, thermo-optic phase shifters/switches and passive components such as splitters, couplers and high-Q filters/gratings. The silicon photonics components and subsystems will then be co-integrated in complex systems. The candidate will work with a variety of teams to support the calibration, operation, and qualification of these chip-scale systems. This is a great opportunity for anyone with the requisite background who wants to gain experience in product design, prototyping, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Design, Model, Layout and Verification of III-V/Silicon Photonics devices
Work with wafer-scale/die-scale tester to develop seamless data acquisition
Communicate with foundries to develop manufacturable photonic devices
Interface with packaging service suppliers and communicating technical drawings.
Generate reports for internal deliverables and external customer interaction
Execute current and new projects from start to finish
Contribute technically to new funding opportunities
Required Qualifications
M.S. (Ph.D. preferred) in electrical engineering, applied physics, or related field
5 years of integrated photonics component or system design and test
Electromagnetic simulations in FDTD, Modesolvers, etc. (e.g. Lumerical/Synopsys)
Mask layout in Cadence Virtuoso
Taping out photonic devices in a foundry setting (full reticle or MPW) with complex layout and DRC
Photonic component testing experience with standard positioners, tunable lasers
Proficient in scientific analysis software (MATLAB, Python)
Ideal Qualifications
High-speed RF/electro-optic photonic design and test
TCAD simulation (i.e. Synopsys Sentaurus)
Familiarity with III-V Design
Die-Scale/Wafer-Scale Prober or Photonics Lab equipment automation and remote control
Chip-scale Optoelectronics Packaging
Communication with Contract Manufacturing
